**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.

It does too apply. When all of us were born, we couldn't feed ourselves but that wouldn't mean that starving us to death wasn't murder. If my parents had refused to feed my brother when he was born because he couldn't feed himself, they would've been arrested for murder. Why is it that liberals would scream bloody murder at a dog being starved to death but when a judge and a "husband" are trying to starve a woman to death, she has a "right to die"?

I can't wait for the Emily's List wing of FR to tell us how this means Terri should be exectued by the Florida courts.

I agree with you! The Declaration of Independence declared:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Florida couldn't get the 2000 election right, so why would I think the people in the Courts down there would get this right.

They are not pulling a respirator from someone comotose who could not live without it -- they are pulling a feeding tube -- big difference IMHO. I have pretty much stayed off these threads, but what they are doing to starve this woman to death is flat out wrong. Her husband has a total Conflict of Interest and should be banned from having anything further to do with her or her care.

I don't think we disagree on the basic "facts" of this case; I am pretty upset about the Congress getting involved.

i am not upset about that, the first thing xshub said was why hasn't there been a private bill passed to save her. We are Catholic and i see a big difference between this case and that which we had with my SIL, and both of my parents. Food and hydration are medical care not life support.

As others have pointed out, she is still breathing on her own, she moves etc. The brain is not dead.
