In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.

Complicated, so let's cut to the chase. Her hubby says she said. So, is he credible? Would you trust this man with a million dollars in cold hard cash? If you won't trust him with that, why would you trust him with your life?
What's best for Terri certainly hasn't been on her so-called husband's mind.

No she's not brain dead, nor is she in a PVS. There's a very good chance she's simply trapped inside her body and can't respond like she wants to, though she does seem to respond somewhat to various stimuli. The problem is we don't know since her husband has just shelved her hoping she will die.

And when she didn't die, that's when the husband got the courts involved.
How long was your medical examination of her, Doctor?
This is a masterstroke on the part of the House. Probably the only way they could keep Terri from being starved to death at this late date.
I saw Gibbs on TV saying Terri is perfectly capable of traveling. He said she'd be out there on the lawn in her wheelchair if MS would let her.
She doesn't have to speak to "testify"; she just has to show up and let the world see that she is very much alive.
I was wondering, though, who will accompany her to DC. Certainly not the HINO - hopefully, Terri's parents will be able to accompany her and Terri will have an attorney to represent her best interests.

I understand the fear that people in life support are in some kind of living, perpetual nightmare. It's very understandable. I wonder that, myself.
But I still think a signed paper would be the way to go.

What a stupid thing to say... And depriving you of food and water would be "letting you die?". Not feeding a baby would be "letting it die?".

That's a good way to put it. I believe in capital punishment. But, I also believe it is better to err on the side of life, so if there is a shadow of a doubt in a capital case I'd rather they kept the person alive until it's straightened out.
