In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.
That's basically what she is now.

i promise to believe that god wants *you* to survive if you stop eating and drinking, otherwise i guess your death was meant to be.
You must not be aware then that feeding tubes originated in the late 1800's. This type of device has been used for YEARS without being considered life-support.
As for her pulse going away because of a lack of a feeding tube, perhaps yours would be gone as well, if you were confined to a spot in a chair or bed, and couldn't feed yourself and no one fed you or gave you anything to drink.
Terri's pulse isn't being kept up because of some machine. Her heart and lungs, kidneys, etc, all work fine! She only lost her ability to eat through her mouth.
I'm an atheist, and I'm for Terri.
That actually makes sense. An atheist believes that when you're dead you're dead... so desperately do anything to keep a body living another day is the last defense against extinction... but I don't see how a believer can have such an outlook.

You seem to think he is following her wishes, you are uninformed, because he never said those were her wishes until after the lawsuit was settled and he had $$$$$$$$$$ in his fist, altho he told the court he was going to use the money to "care for his wife"!

It seems his custody rights are intact, and her parents haven't made their case. Why is that? Are all the courts, advocates, judges wrong? Is it all just "illegal"?

Apparently you haven't read anything about this case. Numerous doctors have said that if she was allowed various kinds of rehabilitative therapy (which she has been cruelly denied) she may very well learn to swallow food and water herself, as she swallows her own saliva.
This poor woman has not been allowed the treatment which would have been allowed an animal.

A friendly word to the wise. You need to be careful how you refer to Terri. JimRob banned someone for being callous in their description of Terri.
