**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.
No I'm not a Scientologist. You only get to be a Scientologist if you're not quite stupid enough to be a Muslim. Fortunately, I'm smart enough to be neither.
I can't understand it otherwise. He should be glad someone who loves her wants to take responsiblity for her care and let him get on with his life with his girlfriend. He is hiding something.
Bump!
Are you suggesting that Man can foil the plans of GOD? How do you know what is in the hearts of all those who fight for Terri? What if, just suppose, Michael wants Terri dead for his own selfish reasons?
Why did he suddenly "remember" those wishes almost ten years later? Why did he lie about them under oath? How can a person who is de facto married to another spouse act as a disinterested guardian for a spouse that's in his way?
You need to read up on this. This is an unusual case.
This really is an issue of her husband wanting kill her off, after he spent her insurance money, and is living happily with his girlfriend and not allowing her parents to take her and care for her.
She did NOT leave a living will.
This is really a fight over guardianship and who wants the best for Terri, and with his entire behavior since her sudden illness, her husband demonstrated that he does not have Terri's best interest at heart. He has not been allowing her parents to visit her, was denying her parents access to Terri's medical records and so on.
He should NOT be allowed to just kill her off, which is what this amounts to.
Hank? You're quite out to lunch on the Terri info....but I've gotta tell you....
"You only get to be a Scientologist if you're not quite stupid enough to be a Muslim."
THIS is hilarious!!! :)
This idiocy got its start when we began making things like "carjacking" federal crimes. Hardly anyone truly believes in any sort of Constitutional principles anymore... it all comes down to "I like it - good. I don't like it - bad."
Because he's following her wishes, perhaps?
There is NO evidence whatsoever that she desired to be killed, if she became incapacitated.
Gee, I wonder if Michael Schiavo is regretting turning down that 1 million dollars he was offered earlier in the week. IIRC, he had to accept the offer by Monday, so it's too late now. Either way, Michael still loses: Terri can't be killed tomorrow, and he's out a bunch of money. Boo-fricken-Hoo!!
There are critical times when we should follow the
SPIRIT of the law, and NOT the LETTER of the law. This situation is ONE of those times.
"I don't get this obsession with a pile of flesh and bones. That's basically what she is now. Let her go. Let her soul move on to better places. How can people who claim to believe in God do this to her?"
Ambrose, to say this indicates you don't understand the case law "precedents" the would-be killers are trying to set for a larger euthanasia agenda. And THAT agenda is yet in the bigger anti-God, anti-sanctity-of-life agenda of totalitarians. Remove God, remove sanctity of life, consider people and their "God-Given rights" as property of the State and you have....1984. That's what's going on here. Better read Orwell--and Romans, chapter 1.
It's a port. They only hook up a "tube" at feeding time.
I'll believe that God "wants" her to persist if she survives without the feeding tube. Perhaps you can persuade me otherwise, but she appears to me to be a pawn used to support a kind of sick group delusion.
You don't know Pinellas Pasco county obviously. It is a snake pit of corruption. Michael and his squeeze Jodi Centonze are in the insurnace business with the Jergers.
I never watch the show, so I wouldn't know. Too busy Freepin' for Terri!!
Your easy answer is "sedation", but are you aware that previous people who have recovered from comas can feel the misery of no food/water, acrual people who have lived a short time thu that experience?
Just imagin (if you can fell anything at all) what tht would be like, andmn NONE OF US, OR DOCTORS CAN SAY WITH CERTAINITY that people don't suffer during that process. PROCESS.
Remember years back when it was medically believed babies didn't feel pain and circumcisions were routinely done on them, it has since been discovered they DO FEEL PAIN?
Greer and Bushnell have fleeced and caused the premature deaths of other individuals.
The judge says otherwise.
