**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.

This was my first post here I think, and I was just hoping I didn't mess anything up..
People who say they wouldn't want to live "like this"-don't forget to consider the withdrawal of food and water you are asking your loved ones to enact and suffer thru weeks of viewing an ugly death.
Altho I have made my living will, my state allows one to choose whether they want to still receive food/water, yet be "unplugged" from respirators.(or kidney machines, etc)
Many people have no concept of which life sustaining devices are which, regarding continuance of breathing, heart or kidney functioning, etc.
All thru this debacle of fighting for Terri, it is never mentioned im the press the fact that ONLY people declared to be dead within 6 months are allowed HOSPICE CARE, I know for sure, having had a loved one use this service.
Why have they been allowed (by law or judge?) to keep her in a TERMINAL FACILITY? Hospice is a place you go to die.
Can anyone answer this question?
Everyone's death is inevitable. Should people be killed so as to hasten the happy day?
Either you haven't read anything about Terri Schiavo or you're being willfully obtuse for "fun".
Her parents have repeatedly stated they are willing to care for her at home on their own dime.
So I guess your philosophy of life is that anyone who can't play golf, hold a job, or click the remote is a useless eater and should be offed?
Terri's parents want to take her home and care for her.
Her husband is the one who shoved her into a hospice, while he is living it up with his girlfriend.
Why wouldn't any human just divorce her, and let her parents be her guardian and care for her?
Are all of you SURE that Terry Schiavo could have a life someday IF ONLY she didn't have her breathing tubes removed?
Terri does NOT have a 'breathing' tube. She breathes on her own.
"God's going to get pretty pissed off if man keeps delaying the inevitable for his own selfish reasons."
What is "inevitable" about this death? Death by starvation is an AVOIDABLE death. Feed her until she dies. What is wrong with that?
It's not inevitable that she will die in the near future SO LONG AS SHE RECEIVES THE SAME THING YOU NEED TO STAY ALIVE, FOOD AND WATER.
Sorry for the caps, but please. Go back and read the info page and get up to speed on this woman's situation.
When they remove her feeding tube, she will not die. She will die AFTER she starves to death over a period of weeks, feeling the same agony you would feel if you were starved to death.
Boy , this just keeps getting BETTER AND BETTER!!! Maybe if I get a cup of tea and stay up all night , by morning she will have been removed from Hospice and back home with mom and dad!!!!!THANK YOU GOD..........
There are no 'Breathing Tubes.' Where in the world did you come up with that?
No, good one, Jeff! Keep it up and welcome!
LOL!!! Well, ya done good!
As numerous people have mentioned, it is illegal to starve and dehydrate a farm or pet animal to death. It is illegal to starve and dehydrate a murderer to death.
Why do you think it is acceptable to starve and dehydrate a disabled woman to death?
It has never been legal for her to BE in hospice in the first place. Legally, only patients who are terminal are supposed to be in hospice - She has never been terminal, - and has been there for years.
Congress just may may put her in "protective custody" - and out of there.
I;ll bet not only her husdand-in-name-only is nervous tonight, but the hospice institution, as they know it is not legal to have her held there...
Excellent article! Thank you!
You get Schiavo to allow Terri to be taped. Her parents were banned from visiting her because they posted those tapes. The court allowed them back in but no new pics or taping allowed.
Applause! Applause!
Bravo! Bravo!
Thanks for the info. I admitted I didn't know much about the case, but I got very suspicious over time when it seemed the same "old" footage was being trotted out, and went unquestioned, over and over again. I guess my assumptions about her condition were wrong. If her parents want her to be kept alive, I think that's their right. But let's get on with the investigation of her husband and his motives.
oh my....good point about the horrible death by starvation. Maybe I would be willing to live in such a state...that just seems to much like suicide to me to put that in a living will, which is sin.
