Pittsburgh (KDKA) A deadly shooting outside Carrick High School this afternoon has put the school on lockdown.
Officials have confirmed that one student is dead and two others were wounded in the shooting around 2pm.
According to authorities, police stopped a car outside the school and were running a check on its license plate when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at the car.
One juvenile in the car was shot in the head and killed; a second juvenile was critically injured by gunshots. A third juvenile in the car was injured by flying glass. Authorities believe all three were Carrick High School students.
Police say the shooting may have involved an AK-47.
As a precaution, students have been kept inside the building past their normal 2:17pm dismissal while police officers swarmed the area; but they're expected to be released within the hour.
More than 1300 students in ninth through twelfth grades are enrolled at Carrick High School, which is located on Parkfield Street.
Actually, PIttsburgh is one of the MOST segregated Cities/(Towns) in the Northeast/Midwest....
always great to see a statist join free republic.
Kids should be trained on ak74's, since they have less recoil than an ak47.
Or at least require them to come with a locking system, all sunroofs must be registered, and the owners must have a permit.
I said I would love to see it and I should have said "if it worked", but it doesn't work. It just takes rights away from law-abiding citizens while protecting the rights of criminals (and even TERRORISTS) who will still get their hands on weapons.
I noticed that as well. The next paragraph should have read.."the policeman immediately fired a score of rounds into the shooters car fatally wounding the shooter and ending the incident"
Instead we get a lock down and ineptness.
HEY, watch that! Now you know Norwegians don't live in rundown neighborhoods. I know you do. (smile)
Ban them = Criminals STILL WILL Get them!
It's like 1+1=2 ;)
If it even was an AK. Knowing the "professionalism" of your average "journalist" nowadays, it could have been a Ruger 10/22.
And I agree -- if you ever see an AK-47 laying there "on the street", please FReepmail me and I'll run over and pick it up.
Chapter 7:62 of the NRA bible.
Don't you think that a .22 is a little bit more appropriate for someone in high school?
Besides, when a criminal uses a weapon, it doesn't matter if it a BB gun, an AK-47 or even a tank...it is really a moot point.
"I'm fairly confident that you will not be "flamed" for that comment. While there are many 2nd Amendment folks on this board, I'm sure that they will all agree that AK-47's have no business in the hands of kids."
I would bet the possession of the arm by the shooters was already illegal. It's just that bad guys pay no attention to the laws.
#2 Nope. I'm a concealed carry licensee in my state, and I aggree.
Why? She's completely correct. We have a right to firearms, a right to bear arms. We don't have a right to unlimited destructive power, there is no right to a bazooka or rocket launcher. If you can't draw the line somewhere, than everything is available, including the latter.
The real issue is: there's no good reason for black market weapons to be on the street where criminals can get them.
There's no good reason for kids to want to kill each other gangster fashion and wreak havoc on their families.
There's no good reason for people to trash on trying to give their kids good values so they can do their own thing.
There's no good reason for undercutting teaching good values to our children.
There's no good reason for destroying our children's lives with cheap sensationalism passing off as good so that someone can make a buck.
All this is more true.
My experience is that half the cops wouldn't know an AK if they saw one.
I'll agree to that...
Odd isnt it, as the Assault Weapons Ban expires..the MSM has put a large emphasis on the number and details of shootings.
The families are in my prayers.
More trouble in the community.
