The family of Rachel Corrie, a pro-Palestinian activist killed by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer in Rafah two years ago, sued the State of Israel and the IDF for damages in the Haifa District Court on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Corrie was killed on March 16, 2003 when she tried to block an IDF bulldozer from destroying a Palestinian house near the Philadelphi Route, the strip of land in the Gaza Strip bordering Egypt.
An IDF investigation ruled the incident was an accident and that the driver did not see Corrie, and the military prosecutor's office decided not to press charges in connection with Corrie's death.
Corrie's parents, brother, and sister, who are represented by Umm al-Fahm attorney Hussein Abu-Hussein, argue Corrie was killed despite the fact that she was wearing bright clothing and had identified herself as an activist with the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity Movement.
Corrie's family argues that the bulldozer driver intentionally used unreasonable force. According to the family, there was no fighting in the area at the time and there was no threat to soldiers' lives.
The family has asked for roughly $324 thousand in direct damages, as well as punitive damages. They also said they have yet to receive all of the material from the IDF investigation into the matter.
Not yet. At least, none that I could find. :)
Maybe she could play Kenny in one episode?
Look, this girl was activily trying to help terrorists, we're talking about backing and helping people who want to commit murder.
She was no peace activist, her parents words regarding her make it clear that she was pretty hatefull.
So yes, alot of freepers are going to be happy that somone who wanted to help murders and criminals got ran over, though the driver of the bulldozer himself, did feel bad about it, and there are still some questions and different accounts about what happened before he started.
This girl will be missed by hezzbollah and hamas, but not by us.
I don't know how you might look at this, but most of the arabs worlds greatest accomplishments came before the advent of Islam.
The middle east used to be a traders delight and Mohammad himself was a merchant (though contrare to some missinformation, he was not christian, he belives in sand gods and gins and such before, according to him, he became a muslim, he also invested the term islam and muslim) since islams creation, the stagnation of progress in technology or commerce or just about anything, has been nothing short of incredible and something that should be studied and evaluated.
You must be joking. Either that or you are truly a moron. I feel sorry for the Israeli civilians that little dumb Rachael's friends murdered. Here's advice-don't stand in front of a bulldozer with a stupid sign. She got what she deserved. No loss.
Maybe her family should try the same stunt. I'd put the lawyers out front though.
Here is a thought, during war, kill your enemy. They did. Good riddance to another liberal. At least she won't reproduce more liberals. See, there is good in everything.
Yeah, I wonder why... Looks like she was such a sweet girl...
Yeah, I wonder why...
St. Pancake's canonization two years ago is just proof that no matter how much liberals wish them away, certain laws apply to everybody. Physics among them.
}:-)4
Money, money, money... something like that.
I have no compassion for the flag-burning little commie twit. I take that back, I'm sorry she was so stupid.
ROTFLMAO!
If one had the experience of dealing with Radicals every day you might change your mind. I have been called a Zionist butcher thousands of times. The self absorbed arrogant people are ripe for parody.
Bulldozer behind you!!!!!!!!!!!
Rachel Corrie was an ass who didn't realize that the laws of physics apply to her, too.
50kg girls do not stop 20,000kg bulldozers.
She should be a Darwin Award candidate.
Frankly, her family should be prosecuted for gross negligence in raising a moron.
Of course, the government may choose to settle the action, but that would be a political decision totally separate from legal necessity.
God should sue the Corries for how they treated their little girl when she was a child.
