"...zero tolerance programs that currently infest our schools....."

Here's any example of the stupidity of "zero tolerance"

I just heard that the fine for not buckling a seat belt is now $1500.00 here. Many, many years I've driven seat belts weren't even available and now we have confiscatory fines? Just leave things to the libs. Portland wants to withdraw from cooperating with the FBI re terrorists, but MUST protect us from ourselves!

Do you know what the definition of "license" is?

"Mere law cannot override rights. My rights are not subject to anyone's vote, no matter how 'worthy' the idea, how noble the cause, or how many vote for it."

That's why this Country was founded upon a Constitutional Republic NOT a democracy. In a Constitutional Republic the individual has the unalienable right to do whatever he / she pleases so long as they do not infringe upon the life, liberty or property of another.
However in a democracy, there are NO individual rights, there are only privileges. The only privileges one has is the ones the collective majority ALLOWS one to have. Those privileges can change all the time by the whims of the voters.

Democracy vs Republic

A Democracy: Three wolves and a sheep voting on dinner.

A Republic: The flock gets to vote for which wolves vote on dinner.

A Constitutional Republic: Voting on dinner is expressly forbidden, and the sheep are armed.

Federal Government: The means by which the sheep will be fooled into voting for a Democracy...

Democrats and Republicans: sheep who think they are wolves.

Mikey,

To sum up my responses to your posts - -

I like the way you think.

I do belong to a few groups and the GOA is among them. I am also on the board of a local gun rights group and we often find ourselves at odds with the NRA. One of the groups founders was an NRA board member and he was forced out because he didn't want to compromise.

We have been successful in getting the NRA to back some of our efforts even though we demand control. Basicly, we wanted their money but we refused the strings.

I wore that stupid belt for years as it was mandatory as a condition of driving the company car. It became a habit and I continued to wear it. The day I heard about the feds pushing that 'Click it or ticket' program, I undid the belt and haven't put it on since. Upthread is the story of my cousins. Last year in a crash, the belted one died and the unbelted one survived. They can ticket me, but I wont pay it and I won't wear the belt.

BTW, how did you come across this old thread. It's been dormant for almost 3 weeks?

"I like the way you think. "

As with you also, most liberty loving people think the same way.

"BTW, how did you come across this old thread. It's been dormant for almost 3 weeks?"

Just running a search on some topics and it caught my eye. You see I also receive Muth's Truth's in my e-mail box each week or so.

"Here's any example of the stupidity of "zero tolerance"

Thanks for the pics. I heard the story on Rush.
The teacher said, "I am a very, very strong advocate for the military." Funny, that is what the 2500 anti-war, er...I mean peace protestors said in Fayetteville, NC on March 19th. I did not believe them & I have a hard time believing this statement.

That's a toughie - until such time as the government doesn't have to pay for the rehab of idiots not wearing seatbelts or helmets, then I'm all for enforcing helmet and seatbelt laws. As soon as they stop paying out Medicaid for the rehab they can get rid of the law.

Is there not a big enough tent for conservatives???

The Title really should be, Forget the EX-CONS, Beware the Liber-Cons (Liberterian pseudoconservatives)...

if that were so, that would put me as counter to my ideology, when in fact i maintain a consistent-life ethic in line with the teachings of my religious beliefs.

lthough it's not touched upon this same author would probably also say that abortion should not be banned by the government. Many freepers may agree with that but I'm not one of them."

The gov doesn't have to ban abortion.
All it has to do is enforce the laws against murder.

It's amazing how so many are afraid of liberty, isn't it?

When you write the article, you can title it however you like.

This one is titled appropriately.
