THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! All these years I've felt alone in that opinion. Talk about insult an audiences' intelligence and showing NO concern for continuity within his own story arc! He makes a 'triangle' the focus of ESB ( check the promo stills from that time, Hamill & Fisher almost smooching etc), then three years later he wants to tie it all up so he ignores all that and 'explains' things with a sibling relationship?
Uhhh, George?
Didn't you realize that that would immediately make the kiss in ESB look incestuous? ESPECIALLY if you're telling the truth now( which I don't believe) in saying that you had them as siblings in the original story idea way back when? So he WANTED people to look back at ESB, at the kiss, and cringe?
Sloppy for a storyteller to make changes that put the 'eeewww' factor into his work, even worse if he doesn't care how it looks in retrospect and does it anyway.
Call me a purist- I think the fairy tale that SW was originally conceived to be should have ended with the shining Knight getting his Princess. Hated the stupid 'history' GL has given his GFFA with EP 1 &2; not curious about the new trailer. Don't plan to see Ep3.
About the best thing is that he won't do any more. EP 3 is the Last Humiliation. The original films don't need to be tainted any more than they already are, thank you.

In answer to your first question... She was queen but it was more like President.

I'm not a teenage boy either. I'm sure you can tell by my handle on FR that a huge SW fan. I think Hayden was good in Life as a House too.

She didn't rule only. Even though the title was Queen she didn't have complete power. Starwars.com has great databases and will give you insight as to political structure.

I'm an adult female, and I agree with you. The 'wuv story' was high-school corny. Christensen has all the heat of a CGI-ed Backstreet Boy, and Portman...just plain stinks, IMO.But then, they had no script to work with.
Then when you get into the fourteen year old ELECTED Queen business, one does have to wonder about the intelligence of an entire planet.
Her taking up with what amounts to an obsessive, violent, younger male smacks of classic 'rich girl slumming with the 'bad boy' type'. How many women go for-and defend- abusive low-life partners, and even marry prisoners? Gee- come to think of it- if Leia is her daughter it explains her going for a space bum like Solo,eh?
We won't even get into the stupidity of taking what is, perhaps, the best known 'villain' in modern movies and showing him as nothing more than a petulant punk. How can we ever look at Vader in the Original Trilogy now without thinking it's a pouting punk behind the mask-not to mention hearing the title song from ' Annie'?
20 years later, Lucas has a PC'ed, morally relativistic audience, and he has given his hero-Luke- parents who have all the depth of a laboratory slide. Kinda like finding out Rambo's parents were Wiley Coyote and Olive Oyl.
Really ruins it for me.

I saw the trailer last night at a showing of Robots. I think it will redeem the series.

Child, your buddy Joey thinks himself a real intellectual. Battlestar Galactica can't hold a candle to what Gene Roddenberry and George Lucas created.

My buddy Joey (who is a Sci Fi Guru) admits that the best of Star Wars is superior to anything done by BSG. But as Joey said last month "Back in 1977, Lucas was a genius. But Lucas'a creative muse died about the time that Duran Duran ruled the charts. Since then, Lucas stopped mining diamonds, and is now mining low grade ore"
