Condi has said abortions should be as rare as possible. What kind of position do you think that represents? I say it's as close to the president's as possible. Prove me wrong.

We had multiple ectopic pregnancies. Most miscarried but surgery was required for two. It is heartbreaking. We are so fortunate to have one daughter born out of all that. We adopted another. But I guess to the absolutists, not only am I not pro-life, I'm no better than Kate Michelman.

Abortion is NOT an issue the President can effect.

"Evidently you have not followed President Bush's time in office very carefully. He is the most pro life POTUS we have ever had and it shows in what he has done."

I can do basic arithmatic. Bush's position on abortion has had NO EFFECT on the number of abortions performed since he took office. If you have evidence to the contrary, please provide it.....

And how many women in her position who weren't incapacitated who DID have abortions. You'd probably call them murderers.

There are plenty of absolutists on this thread who have darned near called women who have abortions murderers. In fact, they have used that very term.

No apology necessary. Maybe I did just push it a little too far... maybe I ought to be the one to apologize.

Abortion is NOT an issue the President can effect.

A president will either try to appoint to the courts a strict constructionist, or that president will appoint a Laurence-Tribe-type who unabashedly brags about activism.

That is one very good effect. Other effects the President can exert include those on military hospital abortions, UN birth control stuff, etc. Also, if the congress passes extraordinary legislation like partial-birth abortion, the president can sign or not.

There are a lot of little things a president does.

That is exactly the point.

Condi is responding as a woman.

Abortion is wrong. No two ways about it.

BUT, there is always the woman factor. So she CAN'T say NO cut and dry.

And they just played that card.

THEY SUCK!

Obviously, Republicans who would stay home for one issue, are guilty of killing far more babies by the simple fact that by "staying home" they place a huge Baby killer and marxist in the MOST POWERFUL POSITION in the world"...

LMAO! So you would rather wind up with two pro-choice parties.

That's real progress (/sarcasm)

Lovely. Guilt is good, contrary to what the left might say. The fact that someone feels guilt is a good indication of God's grace.

that is a wonderful ending, but if your mom had wanted an abortion because of that tramatic event, would she be a murderer in your eyes?......also, as wonderful an ending that is, the same people who espouse this would take a 10 yr old illegal alien child who's parents brought her here when she was a baby and throw her back to a country she doesn't know cause her parents did something wrong..I know this is off track but it seems like all the principled people here are not so compassionate for the lives of already born children......

Actually, President Bush has always been far too smart to say something that dumb.

But it is almost a word for word quote from Bill Clinton.

Miss Rice said abortion should be "as rare a circumstance as possible...".

It's "Doctor Rice," and that language has also dribbled from the lips of Bill Clinton and John Kerry.

It represents exactly the words used by Bill and Hillary Clinton, not George W Bush.

I have never seen Rice describe herself as pro-life with the three exceptions rule.

From the article linked at the beginning of this thread: "Miss Rice said abortion should be 'as rare a circumstance as possible.'"
