So you aren't an absolutist when it comes to abortion and worked to elect Bush even though he approve the three exception rule. That's good. You aren't as single issue and minded as I thought.

This obsession with the mother's-life-in-risk scenario is unfounded. The great majority of children are not aborted for this reason, and for those that are, I'm sure there were alternatives that could have saved the mother without killing the child. The abortion debate shouldn't be centered on this.

You are right, of course...but facts never bother these people...

But, if Condi favors unrestricted abortion

"Mildly pro-choice" is not equal to "favoring unrestricted abortion."

Whew......you nearly worship him, don't you? I wouldn't even come close to comparing him to Washington or Jefferson...@ least they took their constitutional Oaths seriously & did their best to follow it to the letter.

The more I read here, the more I think that Condi should wait to run after she is elected to something.

Well, as far as I am concerned she will never receive my vote. Personally, I wince everytime I hear the terms "pro-choice" and "pro-life."

Well you are not thinking. You will never outlaw abortion in all the states. Meaning that if it is outlawed in Alabama then those people can simply go to New York and get an abortion. The only hope you have is to get 2nd and 3rd trimester abortion outlawed on a national level. But you and your stonewall friends will never let that happen. Meanwhile you won't support one of the best Republicans to come along in a long time. So your one issue, narrow minded view will destroy you. And you deserve it. But the rest of us don't. Wake up.

But that assumes that all those children would grow up to be employed. Under a best-case scenario, they would all be adopted out to excellent parents. My guess is that a fair portion would not reach their full potential because of a dysfunctional family life. Combine that with a loss of manufacturing jobs (another thread, please!) and I doubt they would all become model citizens. What if most of them became drug-dealing murderers. Just as likely a scenario.

Not and excuse for abortion, mind you, but a rebuttal to the economic argument against abortion.

Excellent point. Would love to change public opinion, then the law would follow.

Though I forgot to mention another key ingredient: convince people that if they've done something wrong, the only path to atonement is to recognize their mistake, repent of it, and seek atonement. Pretending that what one did is okay, when one really knows it isn't, may ease guilt temporarily, but not for long. Such efforts quickly become addictive as the guilt quickly returns stronger than before.

Liberals get much of their power through the manipulation of guilt. People think the only way they can feel okay about themselves is if they can convince others that what they did was okay. This never really works, of course, but makes the people more and more dependent upon the liberals for pseudo-atonement. If people could recognize that repentance is the key to atonement, liberals' power would vanish overnight.

Brother, this is lame.

I'd kill a man to stop him from murdering someone else. This doesn't make me pro-killing. I'd go to war to defend my country, this doesn't make me pro-war.

Confused?

Hit the books...try something older than the 1960's. If possible, go for something turn of the century, er, the last century--or earlier.

OO sez: The irony of these two statements following one another is so thick you can cut it.

That's all you've got to come back with? Pathetic.

I wouldn't even come close to comparing him to Washington or Jefferson...

You were alive then?

least they took their constitutional Oaths seriously & did their best to follow it to the letter.

Yeah, we all know that.

Are all of you in this thread really closed minded to a black woman President?

That's not simply stating she's black. That is using the race card. People can't possibly be opposed to her because she's pro-choice (despite the topic of this thread) - it must be because they are closed-minded racists and sexists. It's exactly the same tactic used by the left to shut down any criticism of a black candidate, no matter the reasoning behind that criticism.

I'm not sure how you could expect anyone to take your post any other way.

President Bush hasn't taken a principled stand on the issues I mentioned in post # 535.
