Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)
WAGA-TV/WSB-TV Atlanta | 3.11.05

Posted on 03/11/2005 6:39:06 AM PST by mhking

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

On a positive note, New Jersey had a very serious problem with car thefts and carjackings back around 10-15 years ago. I knew the tide had turned when I was sitting on a train one day and overheard a fellow passenger (a black man) tell his friend that "this sh!t will only come to an end when they start lynching these thugs."

I'd like to see a story about the trial last week; I wonder how many "hung" jurors there were.

depends on the firearm... most likely a glock or baretta.. 15 round magazine = 15 shots.

Because I think drugs suck? Because I had a cousin who died from a cocaine overdose?

I think that makes you perfectly suited to be on a jury. Your way of thinking is in-line with the majority of society.

Having people on a jury that do not think drugs are a problem is bad for our country.

I'm sorry to say, but you were wrong to say you would be biased. You revealed too much about yourself, but you would have made an excellent juror.

Instead, you may have been replaced by someone who felt drug use and distribution is a 'victimless' crime or the fault of society.

I bet he's out of bullets. Why just pistol whip the reporter and put another person in a trunk when you just shot 4 people?

15 up to 17 depending on if it was a Glock or a Beretta.

"Regardless of the lapses in security or mistakes that were made or even what sacrifices were burned at the altar of political correctness IMHO is sort of moot at this point. "

It's a little too late for these victims, but it shouldn't be a moot point in that security procedures need to be revamped in these courtrooms. This incident should be a lesson to be learned from and serious changes need to be made.

Good idea.

Here in Kalistan a woman locked in a trunk tore off a bit of liner and wrote "HELP" on it and was able to slide it out the edge of the trunk lid.

It was seen.

She was rescued.

And a number of kidnap/rape/murders were solved...

Puttin his prisoner inside the car trunk could prevent police from shooting at the car and also trying not to cause him to wreck it.

HOSTAGE IN TRUNK...OH NO!

I REPEAT: ALL OF THIS HAPPENING BECAUSE WE HAVE TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT IN THE COURTROOMS NOW. NO HANDCUFFS, NO SHACKELS, NO ORANGE JUMPSUIT. SO THE JURY WON'T BE PREJUDICED!!!! Well, the next jury (if this guy lives and is brought to trial) won't care if the guy is brought in naked! There will be prejudice, and it will be PC (POSITIVELY CORRECT)!

possibly, depends on if the 4 shots we know about are the only ones... assuming he did not miss, and shot elsewhere in the courtroom...

Well, just found one example: ......

To: Archytekt An unloaded gun is pretty worthless. Maybe the deputies need more training or they should allow other people to carry concealed in the courthouse. 15 posted on 03/11/2005 8:29:29 AM PST by Grannyx4 [ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 8 | View Replies | Report Abuse ]

Was the jury present in the courtroom?

Generally, the person is unshackled when the jury is present or in the jury is only going to be out momentarily.

What I have seen done in one situaiton is to keep the defendant shackled, but in street clothes, the legs are hidden from the jury by a "modesty skirt" which goes around the table. The defendant and lawyers are instructed not to stand when the jury enters or leaves the room so as not to see the shackles. There was always an armed deputy in the back of the room. But that was just one unique incident.

I am just saying lets not knee jerk on this, because the reality is that the uneducated illiterates that populate the jury pools would be prejudiced by a defendant in a prison garb and shackles.
