This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
I've been watching this since around 10:00 this morning and they have repeatedly said he was, "black, with a medium complexion". You've just not heard it.
Your career description sounds like the resume of a relative of mine. If you were a cop in California and then went to O.U. for law school - then you are a relative of mine. I wouldn't want to be any more descriptive than that.

Ballistically, the .40S&W is almost identical to the 'tried-and-true' .38-40, which was never considered to be an espescially 'wussy' round. Unless you're wanting to put meat in the freezer (which even the .38-40 did for decades), how much power do you need? You planning to shoot through steel plate, or what?

That is true. And the cable news outlets have been reporting on this nonstop. I am sure there is other news to report on besides this and Whacko in California.
You are probably caught up. There hasn't been any real news for hours. The last thing we heard was that the cops were converging on an area near Georgia Tech, but the TV choppers won't carry it live because of some policy.
Does it matter if he is black? Evil knows no color. This is an evil man.
I never said it was racially motivated. What I said was that if the guy got to a black neighborhood, then it would be harder to find him. Harder because he is very non-descript, of average build and appearance...hundreds and hundreds that would match his description...and that in a hard neighborhood, there will be enough thugs that would not be offended by what he did and would render aid and comfort. If he got into a fortified drug house with some gang types, he could hole up for days or weeks.
Sad that this notion has obviously offended some, but reality is reality. I speak from 20 years of this sort of thing. Thugs do cover for thugs. White, black, asian, whatever. So, just because some don't like what I have said, doesn't change the fact that is happens. I have been there. I have interviewed this type of turd. I have defended them, and prosecuted them. Don't shoot the messenger...or do if you want. But that doesn't change the facts. If any don't think this happens, then you live in a quite naive/sheltered world. I have been on the streets and in the hood. It happens.
The first description I heard released (around 10:15 am) said he was black. As far as I know that was the first official description of any kind.
Only for purposes of identification. I agree, this isn't a racial incident and he's one evil sumbitch. He was a rape suspect standing re-trial, and he shot the judge and a court reporter and 2 deputies, and now everybody is looking for him and we need to know what he looks like.

Descriptions tend to be helpful when dealing with at-large murderers, though news outlets(at least here in the happy Pacific Northwest) don't seem to think so.
And a violent one that had just been caught with a fabricated knife the day before.
And the answer is no, obviously.
It matters when the Police put out an APB on this individual. Yes, he is evil, but in order to catch him we all need to know what we're looking for.
This isn't about race, it's about describing the thug to the public as accurately and descriptively as possible so he can be stopped as soon as possible.
Correct that last point . . . He was the second-largest person I've ever seen up front. The largest was a security officer who arrived on the scene after the initial attempt to subdue the crazed fan had failed. The "reinforcement" was a black man who was about five inches taller and at least 50 pounds heavier than the unruly "Viking," and he emerged from the tunnel surrounded by other tiny (actually normal-sized) security personnel. It was like a scene from The Lord of the Rings in which a troll from Mordor surrounded by Orcs is brought out to knock down a gate or something. I got the impression that this guy was an emergency reinforcement who was kept underneath the stadium and fed chunks of raw meat and hapless Red Sox fans until he was needed in a particularly desperate situation.
It all ended quickly, but Mr. Viking didn't want to go peacefully. He flailed away at all comers, but he was no match for the new arrival on the scene. The last we saw of him he was being carried out horizontally by a bunch of security guards . . . two guards held each of his legs, and one guard was on each arm. At the rear of the group was the triumphant giant, holding the Viking in a headlock. The giant was so big that his arms completely engulfed the Viking's head, and as the procession disappeared down the tunnel we could only see a small patch of yellow hair on the top of the Viking's head -- I swear it couldn't have been any larger than a quarter.
Hello Kitty sounds just like my 9 month old Cloud; built wide like a bulldog and she's really put it on since we adopted and she doesn't have to battle 30 other kittens for chow. I call her 'Buddha Belly', LOL.
