Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

If it's on the eighth floor, Boortz can't have been in this courtroom, he hasn't practiced law for years and it's the NEW courthouse that has 8 floors.

The old one has 8 floors, the new one has 9 (or is it 10?) floors.

When a murder took place inside city hall in NYC and a guard shot the murderer dead........Mayor Blooming-idiot lamented that no one should be carrying a gun and that tragically TWO people were lost that day.
The moron equated the murderer with the innocent person who was shot dead.

I remember that..instead of lauding the guard and calling him a hero. What a jackass. And THAT is what came after law and order Rudy G, who cleaned up the city and stood by the NYPD. I've feared for NY ever since. OK, sorry to rant OT.

As a result, Nichols was being held in the jury room with an armed deputy. Nichols took the gun from the deputy, shot her, and barged into the courtroom where a different hearing was taking place. I'd wager that Nichols planned when to make his move - hence the notion of a "planned escape."

She was shot, it was her gun the Perp used, but she is still alive and in critical condition.

No - female deputy was shot in the face, critical condition, but she'll live. Male deputy shot/killed outside the courthouse.

The old Superior courthouse was built in 1914. The new courthouse ("the tower") was built shortly before I quit private practice, some time in the late 80s or early 90s.

The State Court building is newer, but Judge Barnes is a Superior Court judge.
