I understand your feelings. Most veterans turned bright red as they read this opinion piece. I know their blood pressure was sky high because mine was.

I am sure she is a real expert on the military; what it is and what it does. Most offensive is her assertion that the military is populated by people who had no other place to go, and that any training you get in the military is useless.
Some of our country's most talented, dedicated and motivated people populate our military. Just because they aren't making the almighty dollar doesn't automatically make members of our armed forces dolts. Of course, people like Jenna Balberg don't like it when people make money...globalists and capitalists are just evil exploiters of people in her world.
I would argue that military training is much more valuable than any training you can receive at a place like Spokane Falls Community College or many other colleges (but particularly Spokane Falls CC). Military training teaches you how to follow orders. It teaches you how to be on time. It teaches you how to live and really get along with others, not just some PC bullsh*t that mandates you appear to get along with them. It teaches you responsibility. But most of all, it teaches you leadership.
Leadership is severely lacking in industry and education in this country. There are a lot of managers, but a scarcity of true leaders.
This pathetic, ungrateful, unwashed rumpswab should be forced to walk the wards at Walter Reed or Bethesda. These men are the ones who give her the privilege and opportunity to shoot off her filthy mouth. Boy, people like her really tick me off.
I could not have said it better myself except the reporter is Lily Morris. Jenna is the editor in chief of the paper although she obviously did not do her job as editor on this piece either. I think letters should be directed to her.

Wow. I don't know where to begin. The writing style was just terrible and I didn't see one supported argument in this nonsense. Anyway, I'm active duty military and this "article" is so far from reality that it would be comical...IF the poor idiot didn't actually believe what she wrote. It seems that all of her knowledge of the military came from bad movies and maybe some brain-rotting garbage like DU. I'm surprised that she didn't accuse us of eating babies. This article was a window into a very sad, hateful, and terribly misinformed soul.

Im not a veteran. Im a 22 year old college student. But this article is a slap in the face to my grandfathers, father, friends currently serving in the armed forces, and everyone else who has worn the uniform so that this marxist TWIT can feel important publishing inflammatory articles in her podunk community college paper.
She doesn't understand why people join the military.
Honor, duty, and sacrifice are something these people can not and will not ever understand.
This CC did not run off a military recruiter of which I am aware. One was run off in Seattle, but not Spokane. Sorry...you are correct I should have given a BARF alert. I was just so ticked about it that I wanted to get it posted when I arrived home from work.
Training. I was bambarded with this Comminturn regurgitated drivel during the SDS in the anti-Vietnam Protests so I sort of have a limited immunity built up.

I could not agree with you more. I just want this college newspaper to be overwhelmed at the responses of veterans to this piece of trash. Unfortunately our local military has been told that they cannot respond and indicate that they are military which means of course that their responses will not be printed in the paper as the paper only promised to print military personnel or veterans responses.
Now you are getting the idea of what those of us from the Vietnam Generation in uniform and our loved ones went through.
I work with Vietnam Veterans and let me tell you that some of them were spitting after reading this. I work with one Iraq veteran and he had a PTSD reaction after reading. I felt bad about that. I did not expect it to hit him that way. I just was livid and want as many veterans as possible to inundate this college newspaper with letters.
She needn't worry.
