South Tampa, Florida - On Tuesday evening, Michelle Fernandez was driving down Armenia in South Tampa with her two children in the car, when another driver tried to run her off the road. The man had a sign over his passenger window that said 'Never forget Bush's illegal oil war murdered thousands in Iraq.'
Fernandez has a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker on her car. Fernandez called police from her cell phone when the driver began yelling, blowing his horn, and following her.
9-1-1 Dispatch
Dispatch: Where are you on Kennedy?
Caller: Right now I'm on Kennedy and Arrawana. Look, he just pulled over next to me, he's stopping the car, it's ridiculous this man! Look he's running after my car, Oh my goodness, he's a fanatic, he's in the middle of the street!
For nine minutes Fernandez stayed on the phone with dispatchers, turning on busy streets, hoping to lose the other driver. The dispatcher heard a horn honking in the background.
Dispatch: Is that him blowing his horn at you?
Caller: No I was blowing my horn at somebody 'cause I'm running stoplights and everything else to get away from him.
Fernandez was finally able to throw the driver off her trail. She ended up going to a near-by little league ball park and waited for police to file a report. They arrested Nathan Winkler at his home. They found the sign in the car.
Joe Durkin, Tampa Police spokesperson
"When we contacted him, his indication to the officers of why he was upset, was because he says 'the victim flipped him off, and that's why I pursued her.' But this is taking political views to an extreme."
Winkler is now charged with aggravated stalking/road rage, which carries a five year sentence.
another peacnik trying to kill someone to stop violence.
Wouldn't it be nice if they charged him with attempted vehicular homicide!!
These people also can be armed with blade weapons or firearms. A little incident can go the way of the old west, these days. It's Dodge City, out there. And the store manager was negligent. He should have immediately stopped the man, ordered him to leave, and particularly as he was recognized from previous and similar incidents. Otherwise, I don't want to hear anyone complaining about people 'taking the law'. If all just stand around twidling, someone has to intervene. Frankly, and to be clear, it really doesn't necessarily even take a 'gym' build to command respect, just an attitude (but not one put-on, that's spotted right off). Have pride in yourself, in a good way, and you can intervene on others behalf, as well.
Liberalism is a mental illness
I'll admit it, I have been known to mess with some liberals head with jokes.
Everything from saying I own stock in Haliburton and the Carlye group to claiming my job is to work for Dybold the company that makes the voting machines.
Some of them actually believe it, and start almost spasming.
To really tick them off, tell them you want them to watch F 9/11, when asked why, tell them, that a portion of the movies profits go to the GOP, it bugs there fragile little paranoid minds out.

Nine minutes and police could not get there,
You mean Al Bundy. Ted Bundy wasn't nearly as funny.

(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
(Now I'm curious what Houston mall that was!) I had a "Four more years and loving it" inauguration sticker taped to the rear window of my SUV but figured it was out of date. Just changed to a "Proud Member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy", which should annoy all those drivers around here who (judging from their stickers) actually believe that there really IS a right wing conspiracy!
Yeah Al Bundy Peg's husband.
Still can't seem to get them to send my official T-Shirt though.
Karl Rove's secret plan to disenfranchise angry dems.
I think it's more insidious than that. I think leftists, Democrats included, are spiritually degenerate and many have been handed over by God to reprobate minds.
You can't be born again and also believe that you have the right to steal, even with the force of the State, the productive value generated by others minds and bodies.
Thou Shalt Not Steal.
I lurk over on DU quite a bit (yes, I'm sick). They've been struggling mighily since the election to get a grip on what faith is all about. Lately, I've been monitoring a monster thread there which launches off on the premise that religious faith, and particularly evangelical Christianity, is a mental disorder. They have no answers. To them, as Paul wrote, it really is the "foolishness of the gospel."

I think the time this guy gets for his crime is going to depend upon any prior record with the cops. Maybe he has a history of these rage-type crimes.
