I have noticed that also. The DUers were filled with hate when Reagan died. (And they consider our good wishes merely fundie self-rightousness)

Not withstanding that, prayers for Clinton. He is precious in God's sight. He may not have earned our respect in many situations, but merely as president he merits it.

I'm sure Hillary is praying too. The sad thing is, I don't think she knows the God she may be praying to.

Well, this will always mark the fundamental ethical difference between atheists/Christian haters on the one hand, and Christians and men/women of moral good will, on the other.

You can see this distinction in analyzing the various posts on DU re: Reagan, their sworn enemy, and FR re: Clinton, our sworn enemy. You really can.

That's the difference between having a fixed objective sense of right and wrong and a sliding scale of relative morality based on subjective feelings.

People with an objective sense of morality recognize that their feelings can lead them to do wrong. Which is why we are biting our tongues over here.

People who let their feelings guide their morality and their actions can never do wrong, in their own eyes. That is why they can give vent to their hatred and rage against their political opponents when they die or fall ill without the slightest guilt or shame.
