Italian Reporter: U.S. Tank Shot Me (Commie Laughable Lies as thin as air)

The claims of an Italian journalist who says U.S. troops shot her for no reason after she was released by terrorist kidnappers on Friday keep getting wilder and wilder.

Now Giuliana Sgrena, who writes for the anti-American newspaper Il Manifesto, insists that U.S. forces used a tank to gun her and her entourage down.

"A tank started to shoot at us without any sign or any light," Sgrena maintained to reporters on Monday. "It was not a checkpoint, so I can't explain it." She also hinted that U.S. forces deliberately targeted her, saying that they had been told she and her rescuers were on their way.

"Our car was driving slowly," and "the Americans fired without motive," she wrote in a report for Il Manifesto on Sunday.

U.S. military spokesmen have admitted that troops fired on Sgrena's car, but did so only because it was trying to run a military checkpoint, but that no tanks were involved in the incident.

Most of those media commies merely piss me off, but I really, really hate eleanor rodham clift. In fact, I hate her as much as she hates America, and that's a lot!

Ms. Sgrena is going to soon find out how the blogosphere is already doing a lot of fact-checking and finding out if her story is true. If she's making up the story, she'll know how Dan Rather felt when Rathergate broke.

Wrong car! That is from the orginal "kidnapping".

From LGF: A correction:

Oh brother. In their video report on the incident, the Associated Press used a picture of a car that had nothing to do with Giuliana Sgrena. Here’s the caption for the earlier photo linked immediately above:

An Iraqi driver stands near his damaged vehicle at the site of the kidnapping of an Italian journalist outside al-Nahrain University in central Baghdad, February 4, 2005. Giuliana Sgrena was snatched from the street as she conducted interviews near the university, police sources and diplomats said. Gunmen pulled up alongside her vehicle, forced her driver and an Iraqi journalist with her out of the vehicle at gunpoint and then drove off with Sgrena, the sources said. The driver said that the gunmen hit his car as they were rushing away from the scene following the kidnapping. (Akram Saleh/Reuters)

Why the driver didn't stop -- or even slow down -- at the TCP is beyond me.

Anyone that's ever driven in Italy knows why. Brakes are optional and frowned upon.

I'm a US Army Tank officer, if a tank or Bradley infantry had opened up on her in the vehicle.... she wouldn't be beating her gums in public today. A Bradley 25mm canon would have dissected that vehicle in two and a tank main gun round would have vaporized it. If they were shooting 7.62mm coaxial machinegun the vehicle would have manifestd a more ventilated look. It is also interesting to note that the burial took place very quickly and that the forensics investigation has been a quiet point aside from the fact that they have said the occupants of the vehicle had shrapnel wounds, not bullet, but shrapnel. Bottom line is this. Don't run a damn road block in Iraq. Most Iraqi's know this.

Hardball said she was working for a "socialist" newspaper? Well, that's a little more precise than the LA Times Sunday, which reported she worked for a "left-wing" newspaper. It's a COMMUNIST newspaper!!

Italy paid a $6 million ransom to free her. They basically finded the so-called insurgency for the next few months. Every U.S. soldier who comes home in a box and every Iraqi civilian, policeman and soldier who is killed will all have had their murders paid for by Italy. So it's not hard to see why the Italian government and their agent who was driving would like to keep these facts quiet and instead blow the shooting out of proportion.
