Oldest biped skeleton discovered - new evolution record, 1.2 millions added in one day

A joint Ethiopian-US team of palaeontologists announced on Saturday they had discovered the world's oldest biped skeleton to be unearthed so far, dating it to between 3.8 and four million years old.

"This is the world's oldest biped," Bruce Latimer, director of the natural history museum in Cleveland, Ohio, told a news conference in the Ethiopian capital, adding that "it will revolutionise the way we see human evolution".

The bones were found three weeks ago in Ethiopia's Afar region, at a site some 60 kilometres from Hadar where Lucy, one of the first hominids, was discovered in 1974. Researchers at the site in northeast Ethiopia have in all unearthed 12 hominid fossils, of which parts of one skeleton were discovered.

You are just making stuff up. Scientists do not have a premise there is no God. They do not consider God one way or another. They can't and be good scientists. However, as both a scientist and a Christian minister, my God is a lot more capable than the little god the creationists fabricate, putting silly ideas into a little idolatrous cult that makes Christians look stupid. This is more a work of Satan, then the creationists sponsor.

Creationists assume God did it and therefore can't do science. That is why creation science is an oxymoron. ID is the same, except the little joke is they won't mention religion until they subvert science education.

No...but the Hebrew translates as Ball or Sphere.... Common sense always told me that "circle"(As the KJV says) implied curvature, like one sitting upon a curved seat. Smart folks always figured, even back then, that the Earth was spheroid.

These leaders are often venerated, and manipulate and control the group through their charisma, deception, fear, and even perceived power.

Well if you think Ham and Morris fit the above description then you must also accept Dr.James Dobson, columnists and even our President as leaders of cults.

The President doesn't sign laws which we have to obey? Now I know you are on a different planet.

Laws in this country are only approved with the vote of our own representatives. That is not the same as the control the leaders and pastors of the creationist cult exert on their followers.

Perhaps you need a course on American Government.

Laws in this country are only approved with the vote of our own representatives.

The President of the United States

The President is the head of the executive branch and plays a large role in making America?s laws. His job is to approve the laws that Congress creates. When the Senate and the House approve a bill, they send it to the President. If he agrees with the law, he signs it and the law goes into effect.

Now who were you suggesting needs to take a course in United States Government? And by the way, since you consider creationists as cultish who do you subscribe your beliefs to? I believe that whoever it is would be shocked to hear that you consider them a cult since they are framing your mind.

The President doesn't tell you you must believe misinterpretation of the Bible and hold to anti-science agendas that ruin science teaching in this country.

Your point is simply ridiculous, but it does show the extent of intellectual dishonesty present in the creationist cult.

Thank you for showing the lurkers how off base creationism is.

Your view just goes to show how many can be taken in by the lie of evolution. And please, don't say that creationists are a cult when you won't say the same about evolutionists.

Scientists are surely not a cult. I don't believe there is such a thing as "evolutionists".

Creationists are a cult. They follow a controlling leadership that convinces them that nonsense is the truth and it somehow affects God's Word and the Gospel of Salvation. It is not science that is the creationists' enemy, but sanity.

Creationism does not affect God's Word. A person can believe in creationism and not be a Christian or a Christian can believe in it. It is not a prerequiste to being a Christian. Creationism does not lead people to be a believer since only the Holy Spirit can do that.So I must ask you, what threat do you perceive creationism to be? Could it be that you are an evolutionary scientist and you feel your field is being trampled on by something that many call truth?

Modern biology and genetics are just fine without evolution. What, specifically, has evolution _added_ to genetics itself?

Remember that genetics was discovered by a creationist, and has more creationist implications than evolutionary. Specifically, it showed them then and shows us now that there are limits to change. Even with mutation, and even with the combination of mutation and selection, there is still not enough ability for organismal change to create entirely new molecular subsystems, complete with control genes at all necessary points.
