Poland is interested in KazMunaiGas’s participation in Odessa-Brody-Plotsk pipeline

Astana. March 5. KAZINFORM.

Issues of bilateral relations in oil and gas sphere had discussed Uzakbai Karabalin, president of the National Company KazMunaiGas JSC and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Vladyslov Sokolovski at the meeting held March 2 in Astana.

Ambassador emphasized the commodity turnover growth trend between Kazakhstan and Poland that reached last year 350 million USD.

The Polish party expressed its interest in KazMunaiGas’s participation in the Odessa-Brody-Plotsk pipeline project and also confirmed intent of the Polish companies reconstructing the port Atyrau to keep on the works.

The sides also touched upon the potential of joint activity to develop oil and gas fields, including the Kazakhstani part of the Caspian Sea, cooperation with the leading Polish companies in this sphere.

As earlier reported, Ukraine considers the oil transportation project en route Odessa-Brody-Plotsk-Gdansk as one of the promising and ingenious. February 23 in Brussels president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko upon completion of the meeting with the EU president Jose Manuel Barrozu stated that continuation of the pipeline project is important not only for Ukraine but also for the European Union.

Kazakhstan is key country in this business, without them it would be unprofitable. Azerbaijan itself hasn’t enough oil to fulfill this pipeline for longer time, especially that they pumping already oil to Turkey. Practically if KazMunaiGas would agree to invest in pipeline’s construction process, automatically they must agree to sell this oil.
This is interesting that the Germans aren’t interest at all, seems to me that they want again be veryyyyy kind for Putin.
