The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

U.S. works 'day and night' to rein in al-Qaida
Full Story

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

Autopsy Decision Not Made By Michael Schiavo, Official Says

It is not up to Michael Schiavo to decide whether his wife, Terri, should undergo an autopsy after death. ``He doesn't have any choice in the matter,'' said Bill Pellan, director of investigations for the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner's Office.

Schiavo Autopsy Will Not Confirm Diagnosis

Neurologists say the autopsy that is to be performed on Terri Schiavo after she dies will not definitively confirm a diagnosis of persistent vegetative state.

A former Detroit schools official has been charged with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. A criminal complaint unsealed Monday in Miami said Kifah Wael Jayyousi, 43, formerly of Detroit, conspired with Kassem Daher of Broward County, Fla., in the mid- and late 1990s to raise money and recruit Muslim extremists to fight in Bosnia, Kosovo, Chechnya and Somalia. The complaint was issued in December.

>> Why would a worker check out and then return to the work area on his own time? <<
Good question. I thought that the worker had failed to sign out the previous day.

I couldn't begin to guess and have no other info. Perhaps shoddy check-in/out procedures. This will be one area OSHA will look closely at for sure.

North Korean radio denounces US official's S Korea visit

2005/03/29 03:08:38

Mar 28, 2005 (BBC Monitoring via COMTEX)

The United States' ambition for a nuclear war aimed at our Republic recently crossed the danger line and is entering a phase of execution [of the ambition].

The ambition to launch a war of aggression harboured by the United States, which has defined our Republic as an outpost of tyranny and raved about ending tyranny, is being directly put into practice through reckless military exercises.

As has been reported, a large-scale joint military exercise integrating the Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration [RSOI] and the Foal Eagle exercises led by the United States was frantically conducted across South Korea from 19 to 25 March.

Some 17,000 troops from US mainland and US forces stationed in South Korea and overseas, and South Korean forces participated in the exercise.

The aggressive nature of the joint military exercise became clearer with the participation of the Stryker unit, which is the United States' rapid mobile strike force. The seriousness of the situation did not stop here.

This time, the United States let the South Korean forces independently conduct the Foal Eagle exercise, which it had jointly conducted with the South Korean forces every year.

Thus, the United States has fully revealed its true intention to take the South Korean forces as a shock brigade for realizing the ambition for northward aggression.

Furthermore, as the first stop of her Seoul junket, Secretary of State Rice visited the command and control post of the South Korea-US Combined Forces Command, reportedly to check the US warmongers' simulated exercise, and she incited the fever of war of northward aggression.

In response to this, various South Korean circles denounced and criticized [the visit] en masse as an incident that once again disclosed the United States' ulterior nature of looking for a chance for preemptive attack behind one's back while pretending to be wanting dialogue up front, as well as an incident that plainly disclosed the arrogant imperialist snobbery of looking down on our nation.

Even The New York Times disclosed on 20 March that the unusual first stop at a US military facility of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command by the secretary of state, not the secretary of defence, shows her unchanged will to make the North collapse.

This year, the United States has extremely strained the situation on the Korean Peninsula by successively conducting joint military exercises in collusion with South Korean forces in the skies, ground, and seas of and around South Korea and the Korean Peninsula.

Since the beginning of the new year, the United States drew into the waters of the Korean Peninsula the Kitty Hawk carrier and a carrier group based in Japan's Yokosuka and belonging to the US Seventh Fleet and conducted the so-called joint naval exercise with South Korean forces.

In February, the US nuclear-powered submarine Los Angeles [as heard], anti-submarine patrol planes, and South Korean destroyers were mobilized to conduct a joint anti-submarine exercise in the East Sea of Korea [Sea of Japan].

Prior to the recent large-scale joint military exercise, the United States also conducted a so-called river-crossing exercise in collusion with South Korean forces along Imjin River to make a general assessment and to test combat capabilities of the US Army Second Division's First Brigade, which has been restructured into a super brigade.

The United States should remember that if it answers our nation's efforts for realizing peace on the Korean Peninsula with a war of aggression to the end, it will not be able to evade the situation of a moth, and should not run wild recklessly.

11 RDU Passengers Taken Off Plane As Suspected Illegal Immigrants
POSTED: 12:21 pm EST March 30, 2005
UPDATED: 4:06 pm EST March 30, 2005

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Nearly a dozen passengers were escorted off a Southwest airlines flight Tuesday and taken into custody, suspected of being illegal immigrants.

Eleven people were taken off Southwest flight 2340 from Chicago at RDU International at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said that an air marshal who was on the flight overheard some people talking about being smuggled into the U.S. The air marshal then contacted immigration and customs officials who met the plane.

The 11 Mexican nationals were taken to the Johnston County jail where they were held overnight and are still being interviewed.

Authorities said they believe each person spent about $1,000 to get on the flight and that one of the 11 planned the incident.

The other 136 passengers on board were delayed by 15 to 20 minutes after the flight landed. The other passengers reportedly cheered when authorities removed the suspected illegal immigrants.
