The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

U.S. works 'day and night' to rein in al-Qaida

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

"Witness Against Va. Gang Members Heads to Court"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "ALEXANDRIA, Va. - A key witness in the upcoming trial of four MS-13 gang members is heading to court today.

Joaquin Grande-Chavez had fled and was arrested by U.S. Marshals last week. The Washington Post reports Grande-Chavez is expected to testify against his brother at a trial which begins on April 11th.

Four gang members are charged in the slaying of another federal witness -- 17-year-old Brenda Paz.

The trouble with Grande-Chavez highlights the difficulty in getting witnesses to cooperate with prosecutors.

Gang members have been known to issue orders to kill such witnesses before they can testify.

Paz was a witness in another MS-13 case. Her body washed up on the banks of the Shenandoah River in 2003."

But the ITU enjoys virtually no influence over the Internet. That remains the province of specialized organizations such as the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN; the Internet Engineering Task Force; the World Wide Web Consortium; and regional address registries.


The ITU, a United Nations agency, would like to change that. "The whole world is looking for a better solution for Internet governance, unwilling to maintain the current situation," Houlin Zhao, director of the ITU's Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, said last year. Zhao, a former government official in China's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, has been in his current job since 1999."

One Killed and Six Injured as Assailants Attack During Easter Morning Service in Pakistan

The Voice of the Martyrs has learned that Sunday's Easter morning service of the Victory Church International (also known as the New Apostolic Church) in the village of Khambay near Lahore, Pakistan was disrupted as four armed assailants opened fire on the church property, murdering one Christian worshipper and injuring six others. Killed was Arshad Masih, a young husband and father of a one-year-old daughter.

According to reports received by The Voice of the Martyrs, members of a Muslim family who had long been opponents of the congregation entered the church property at about 10:00 a.m. as the congregation was worshipping and began shooting. Some reports indicate that there were children playing outside. Arshad Masih was reportedly shot and killed as he went outside of the church building to find out what was happening. Six other believers including Pervez Masih, Naeem Masih, Arshed Masih, Ismael Masih, and two others (exact names to be verified) also came out from church and the attackers also fired on them. The attackers then fled.
