From pornography to 'Desperate Housewives' women being degraded has an entertainment value far greater than men being degraded.
People like Martha Stewart and Hillary Clinton a lot more once they were 'broken,' ice queens melted into puddles of vulnerability.
Hillary was America's first lady, photographed smiling in her designer dresses as she oversaw table settings and placements for state dinners, even though she did not care about such domestic piffle and was instead really manuvering to take over huge chunks of domestic policy.
Martha was the first lady of gold leaf designer lifestyle nesting, even though her uber-nest was so scary that her husband flew the coop. Though she was the ulitmate professional homemaker and nurturer, she left her daughter off the list of the things she would miss in jail.
Obviously, many men are uncomfortable with successful women, so when these women are brushed back, alpha men can take comfort in knowing that the alphettes are not threateningly all powerful and that they had better soften those sharp edges.
And what about Condi, who's now being touted for the Republican ticket in 2008? Perhaps she does not need to play the victim to make people feel better about her power because she was never seen as pushing people around and bending them to her will.
She always seems subserviant to President Bush and VP Dick Cheney, a willing handmaiden for their bellicose bidding.

Though I think MoDo is a whining, shrewish, obnoxious harpy I do think even she would have better taste in men than that.
Would anyone have heard of Hillary Clinton had she not attached herself to a male? She used his back to ride up the ladder and get some fame. Would she have made it on her own? Probably not. Miss Dowd and other Democrats seem to forget the 1200 FBI files brought to the whitehouse and the
illegal Johnny Chung donations. The paper bags of money brought by Charlie Trie and the lost billing records from the Rose Law Form. Maybe Miss Dowd should check with some of the folks that stood guard over HRC in Arkansas and DC?
She only writes this stuff because she knows FR will pick it up. She's teasing us. It's time to pinch her on the inner thigh and bring her over the fence:)

Honestly, I started reading the article without realizing it was MoDo, and it was like listening to a schizo on speed....you think things are making sense only because of the sincerity of the person talking, and then you sort of wake up and realize that there weren't even two thoughts strung together that went anyplace coherent.
It was weird.
I HONESTLY think the woman's got a screw loose. And I'm really not trying to say bad things about her. It was just my gut reaction.

It's the not-to-well veiled racism that really gets to me. Only a ranting leftie of Dowd's ilk would try to portray a gifted stateswoman as the Bush administration's personal negro. But you know, they are not going to get away with it this time, just as they have failed at most of what they have tried since 2000. The conservative news media will not allow it to happen, and because of them the American people are on to their dishonorable political methods and continuing treason against the Constitution and the United States.
