What is the most awesomely bad love song ever? The one that makes you cringe when you hear it, but you just can't turn it off. What love song makes you shake your head, roll your eyes, laugh, gag, shed a tear, or just punch something because it's so horrendously great that you love to hate it. Or is it vice versa? VH1 is counting down the 40 Most Awesomely Bad Love Songs....The kind of songs that might end a relationship rather than enhance it. You get the drift.

Join us as we count down and celebrate fantastically cheesy lyrics, the best and worst metaphors, awkward and confusing themes, and of course, those strange, misguided flukes from our favorite artists, while our team of experts help explain why we've deemed these songs so (un)worthy. We've been covering our ears, shutting off the radio, and running from the room screaming for too long. It's time to ban these songs to our awesomely bad Hall of F(Sh)ame!

"I don't know. I guess 'The Jack' qualifies." --- Angus Young when asked if AC/DC ever recorded a love song.

Yes, anything by Nancy Sinatra and Debbie Boone was totally awful.

Hey - I got another horrendous act for you. It was Alabama's "Old Flame"

We gave it the varied lyrics of: "I saw you staring at my brother. I saw your eyes begin to roll."

Baby, baby fawwing in love
I'm fawwing in love again...

Oh yeah, I remember that. He really did sing "fawwing" too. Can't remember who did it, though. I think I try to block these things out.

Kenny Rogers certainly knew how to pick 'em:

"LADY I am your knight in shining armor..."

One of the most overdone songs was "You Keep Me Hanging On" by Vanilla Fudge. The Supremes' version was passable, but VF overplayed it with layers of fake soul and fake emotion with contorted facial expressions. I have an old Ed Sullivan video of them playing that song, and it's embarrassing to watch.

Given that the babe in the song gets hit by a train I have always altered this line:

"I'll never kiss your lips again

They buried you today"

TO

I'll never kiss your lips again

We buried them todayyyyaaaaayayyyyyy...!

That song (You're so Vain) actually makes my teeth hurt. Hated when it came out and hate now.

Glad to be here, MOgirl

"Billy, Don't Be A Hero" had to be near the bottom of the barrel for sure.
