vh-1/viacom ^ | 3-02-05

What is the most awesomely bad love song ever? The one that makes you cringe when you hear it, but you just can't turn it off. What love song makes you shake your head, roll your eyes, laugh, gag, shed a tear, or just punch something because it's so horrendously great that you love to hate it. Or is it vice versa? VH1 is counting down the 40 Most Awesomely Bad Love Songs....The kind of songs that might end a relationship rather than enhance it. You get the drift.

Join us as we count down and celebrate fantastically cheesy lyrics, the best and worst metaphors, awkward and confusing themes, and of course, those strange, misguided flukes from our favorite artists, while our team of experts help explain why we've deemed these songs so (un)worthy. We've been covering our ears, shutting off the radio, and running from the room screaming for too long. It's time to ban these songs to our awesomely bad Hall of F(Sh)ame!

Do you think if you asked your Mom now about "Torn Between Two Lovers" today she would answer you ?

I always thought that it was "torn between two mothers", an absolutely horrible song.

"Afternoon Delight" is the worst, I can't stand that song. The "Pina Colada Song" also drives me nuts. Then again most music from the 70's was awful.

Was that the Alabama State Trooper that stopped Bubba and asked "Got any ID?" to which Bubba replied "'bout whut?"

Send In The Clowns

Sung by: Judy Collins
Written by: by Stephen Sondheim

Isn't it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air.
Send in the clowns.

Isn't it bliss?
Don't you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can't move.
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns.

Just when I'd stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours,
Making my entrance again with my usual flair,
Sure of my lines,
No one is there.

Don't you love farce?
My fault I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want.
Sorry, my dear.
But where are the clowns?
Quick, send in the clowns.
Don't bother, they're here.

Isn't it rich?
Isn't it queer,
Losing my timing this late
In my career?
And where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns.
Well, maybe next year.

Most UNDERRATED Love Songs:

1. "Sweet Jane" by the Velvet Underground: "Some people like to go out dancing, but other people like us we gotta work!"

2. "Louie, Louie" the Black Flag version, if only for this line: "Who needs love, when you've got a gun."

I asked for "The Best of the Animals" for Christmas. My mother couldn't find it in the store, so she bought me "The Best of Herman's Hermits" instead.

LOL. Hey, six of one, half-dozen of the other, right?

Now, suddenly, I've got something running thru my head...

You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille...
Four hungry children and a crop in the fields.
I've had some bad times,
lived through some sad times,
but this time your hurtin' won't heal.

Hello,

I have not read all posts yet, so someone may have brought this up, but have you factored in "Seasons in the Sun"? Just wondering...

Glad to be here, MOgirl

"I don't wanna miss a thing" - Aerosmith. Puke.

Hard to believe that the band that gave us Walk This way, Rag Doll, Same ole Song and Dance, Big 10 inch record, and Toys in the attic has turned into Bon Jovi.

Me too.
But Judy Collins is actually pretty cool now.
Saw her a while back on Austin City Limits. She's doing alot of Western Folk stuff.
