Thank you HLL.....you always get us started on the right foot with the award shows and special programs. I hope Jamie Foxx gets a nod tonight......Ray should do well me thinks...<;^)

(Although I think I secretly wish Hotel Rwanda's Don Cheadle would win just so that he could say over and over during every interview that Bill Clinton knew what was happening in Rwanda at the time and lifted not a finger.)

This is one of those weird years where I care for only a few categories, not so much for these particular movies but for the people nominated. I hope Morgan Freeman wins; Scorsese wins; but mostly I want James Newton Howard to win for his score to The Village, or Thomas Newman for his score to Lemony Snicket. I loved Howard's score, but Newman's is rather weak for him--I'd just like either of them to win for their fine careers so far. (Debney's Passion score is embarassing in the amount of ripping off of other scores.)
What a weak year if this is all I care about.

There are a few things that I have absolutely no interest in, and the OSCARS are one of them.

Darn, there's a debate on ethics between Dan Rather and Terry McAuliffe hosted by Jesse Jackson that's a couple of clicks higher on my list than another show business salute to show business.
Were it not for the publicity reps. that each of these semi-talented folks hires, you'd never pay any attention to individuals. Why would you waste a couple of hours watching a bunch of people who would be waiting tables if they didn't have forty people trying to make them look good?

saw AVIATOR yesterday. It was terrific. Mrs Drango and I almost walked out on Aviator it was so bad. Sideways was most excellent.
