"You should hear Chris Rock's uncut live stuff. It consists of angry shouting, peppered with the word pussy every eight seconds."
Chris Rock says pussy? How dare he say pussy! No one should say pussy. Pussy is not a word that should be used in public. Pussy! Pussy! Pussy!
I'm sorry.
I went through that over a decade ago now....she left me for Warbucks.
I was in a law office the other day and saw some depositions going on in the conference room over custody etc.
I shuddered....very bad memories.
What I don't get a ping? Didn't you say that was ettiqutte? LOL My agenda is defending a medium which I have always loved.
Strange way of showing someone you love them. I might forgive my husband once, but on the second offense... he's out the door.
You think conservatives and Christians aren't getting their scripts returned every day? You think it doesn't hurt people in the industry to identify themselves as such? You really think it's just a matter of Hollywood not getting an oportunity to present alternative points of view more frequently? Is that why any marketing guy with a brain could have told any Hollywood company that producing Mel Gibson's Passion would make millions for them? Why did they not only reject it but work overtime to discredit the film? Beleive me, I like movies and watch plenty. Coming to the obvious conclusion that Hollywood as a whole is at war with Red-State America is not some basement conspiracy theory.
LOL! If Gwynneth is a Jr. High School boy, then I am gay.
;-)
Hollywood's derision for most of America has been happening since the old moguls who actually like us and wanted to be like us started dying off.
Look at American Beauty...nothing but an indictment of the suburban lives most live. And they fawned over it like it was made on the back lot at Mt Sinai.
Oh wait I did get a ping from you! I'm sorry AJC. My bad. Apologies all around.
Seeing how M. Night has been hit with lawsuits over the originality of The Village and Signs (my favorite of his), it didn't surprise me that he seemed to have been, uh, "influenced" by another writer when coming up with The Sixth Sense.
Yes, you did get a ping. I noticed. You "worked" for a film school, eh? Interesting.
Gwynneth has a beautiful face. She can come over for dinner any evening.
I honestly don't think anyone knew Gibson's film would have done the business it did. There will certainly be more now that the example has been set. And just so you know...the Eastwood film was also barely made. Rejected by studio after studio. It's all about money.
Are you sure you're on the right thread?
I didn't notice that and apologized to AJC. I worked for a while at a film school in Chicago doing computer related stuff.
SAdly, I think Halle's mother is white trash, for lack of a better word. She was always depressed while Halle was growing up, and made Halle choose to be black which is bullshit. She's half white and half black.>>>
White trash ?
Her mother is a gentile English lady who was a nurse.
Judith Hawkins met Jerome Berry at a psychiatric hospital where they both worked in the early '60s. That she was white and he was black caused a terrible rift within her family, and when they married all contact between her and her parents was severed. Judy was ecstatic at the birth of her two beautiful daughters (her eldest, Heidi, is married with three children) but that happiness was marred by the fact that Jerome, a heavy drinker, started to abuse her. By the time little Halle was four, thankfully he left.
Much to the girls' horror, however, Judith allowed him to come back. Soon he wasn't beating only his wife up, but his elder daughter. "It was the worst year of my life," recalls Berry. "All I remember thinking was, Please leave, please, please just leave."' Judith nods mutely in the background.
When Halle was seven, Judith, having finally freed herself of her husband, decided to move the family out to the smarter (and whiter) environs of the suburbs. But the racist taunts hardly abated.
At her new school, meanwhile, her predominantly white classmates were less discreet, nicknaming her "zebra" or "half-breed" and hiding Oreos (those American biscuits which are black on the outside and white on the inside) in her mail box. Instead of retreating into a corner, Berry frantically threw herself into every club and society going. By her teens she was a cheerleader, editor of the school newspaper and consistently top of her class. She was even elected prom queen >>>
The film serves as a propaganda piece in that it softens up the viewing public for the twisted idea that euthanasia is "compassionate" and that it is a good and noble thing to relieve suffering by killing a person.
I don't know about you, but I came away from "Schindler's List" with the strong impression that the mass murder of the Jews was barbaric and evil. I didn't find it "glorifying".
Your point that Eastwood was just copying the written story?
Many directors change important plot elements of material they adapt.
Happens all the time. He didn't have to include this ending.
That's another reason I didn't watch the awards. If Hollyweird wasn't so vehemently anti-Christian "Passion" would and should have been up for many awards. Best actor, director are 2 that come to mind. But, I'm not surprised they ignored it.
The only thing that surprised me was that they didn't shower "Fahrenheit 911" and Mike Moore with awards. I really thought they would.
