Uh, the Passion happened, MDB didn't. The Passion is a story a wee bit older than women duking it out, then having their "Catholic" friend off them.
I saw you earlier in the thread. Did you watch the Oscars?
We only watched parts of it. No stuntman Oscar yet...so little interest.
We watched Chisum tonight on the Encore Westerns Channel.
The Duke!
We flipped over to the Oscars a couple of times....and it looked lame.
Watched some of it towards the end...and it still looked lame.
Not very entertaining.
I think I may have an idea why. Today's actors lack the style and wit of the actors of the past. So they are not to entertaining. They have no adlib ability.
They have the personality of a rock.
Guess they can't be interesting without something scripted for them.
We need people like Dean Martin back.
I wasn't referring to Fox. But I can see the confusion I created by my post. Sorry.
hey now...lots of Louisiana ladies on this forum...hey, that could be a song.
Men are dogs....we crapmentalize.
Carville LA is home to a large Fed Prison that used to be a TB Sanitarium.
.
Welcome aboard, Evening Star, the water's fine.
.
As always, it was fun!
Next year I'm not gonna post in a tux.
I'm just gonna wear my jammies.
Some people can compartmentalise real well when they're not fully put together mentally.
I'm glad Jamie Foxx won for "Ray". He gave an amazing performance. I think the movie should have been nominated for more awards. The actresses who played Ray's wife and mother and the child who played Ray when he was little, were also outstanding. In fact everyone in that movie was great. It should have won best picture.
I could have predicted "Million Dollar Baby" would win. It had the right message for the leftist crowd- euthanasia is a-okay. "Ray" didn't have the right message. His mom taught him self reliance. After he fell apart, he didn't blame anybody-i.e, society, whitey, exc... for his troubles. He picked himself up, on his own, and put his life back together. When his mistress became pregnant, she didn't run to the local abortionist, she had the child. Even at the height of his drug use Ray tried to keep his family together. Those are 3 messages liberals don't want African Americans (or anyone else) to hear- i.e self reliance, family first, pro life.
I have to admit, I didn't see the other movies . I won't see "Million Dollar Baby" because of the glorification of euthanasia. Just my 2 cents anyway.
Yep. Film already in production.
Oh okay... I was expecting more of a liberal love fest but it was pretty boring to me.
You I guess are the resident expect on secular Jews. I have not seen The Passion. I suspect it is just not a very well woven movie. But I have not seen it. I will get around to renting it eventually. Did not Ben Hur win best movie. Did not that have Christian themes. Were not secular Jews in control then of the Academy?
but what i'm saying is there was a group that was seeing something in the movie that just wasn't there or not glorifying it......do you remember "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest"......great movie where he got the prefrontal lobotomy in the end and didn't deserve it.....that was not glorifying it, just telling a story.....how did you feel when some Jewish people saw Jew hatred in the movie. Didn't you think they were a bit off.....well same with MDB, the ending happened but I don't think anyone can say it was a pro eutanasia film......it was telling a story as written
Thank you! I was trying to think of the word to explain my feelings about the story...illogical. I felt the same way about "The House of Sand and Fog." I really like Ben Kingsley, but the story, which like Mystic River was based on a book was totally illogical to me. It's a shame, but in alot of instances, I find myself picking apart the stories and the things the characters do in these movies. I find myself yelling at the TV: "That would never happen!" I'm very critical. Must be my old age.
Yes...Crystal would be an improvement.
bound to be some other dry-witted laconic sorts out there.
Wake up, we are reliving the nazi/communism days of the 1930-40's, right down to the PETA freaks, anti-smoking nazis, anti-semitism days. It's all around you in case you haven't noticed.
I watched the Oscars, they were lame. I agree with everything you've said.
Where's today's Brat Pack? Puh-leaze.
There are good actors around these days, but even the good ones have no style, no sense of greatness.
I don't even go to the movie theater anymore. There's so little reason to go.
Wasn't her dad mixed as well?
I doubt it. But there is a thread on FR.
