Police have uncovered new evidence in the decades old BTK Wichita serial killer case and are questioning a person of interest, according to sources close to the investigation.
Authorities scheduled a news conferece for 11AM Eastern Saturday to make an announcement in the case, and relatives of the killers victims would be briefed beforehand.
Some police sources have said that a 59 year old man was arrested Friday and linked to the case by a DNA sample.
Surveillance activites gave police 'their first big piece' of recent evidence, leading authorities to a vehicle and the person of interest.
Investigators also searched a house in the Wichita suburb of Park City Friday, siezing computer equipment.

Police Chief: This is what we did...
DA: This is what I did...
Assistant police chief: This is what I did...

affirmative actionGee, I'm going to guess he was elected by the citizens of the community.

It sounds like he moved out of dodge and got a job hiding out in Park City being the dog catcher, after graduating with a degree from Wichita State in 1979. Atypical for serial killers that he would stop for such a long period of time..
How much you wanna bet he wasn't having his fun with stray dogs during that time?

Fixed your typo: hey, that's not fair. DUmmies may be stupid, they're not all rapist-killers. Please.

20 years is nothing to brag about..most of these people weren't in office when these murders took place. That's nothing. The killer was under the authorities nose the whole time.

I HATE these self serving, politically driven, back slapping, staged, "news conferences"!
They have NOTHING to say, or add to the case!
They only risk the successful prosecution of the case!
They should simply release a statement that "based upon DNA evidence, they believe they have captured the suspect in this case".

No crimes are subject to death penalty that occurred before 94?..
No information will be given on evidence.

DA says no death penalty in Kansas until 1994 so homicides committed before then not eligible. Then instated but now in abeyance for some legal reason but she didn't give exact dates.
She's laying out why some (or all) of his murders may not include death penalty option.

take it easy... the affirmative action crack was too easy I had to take it.
That aside I know nothing about the mayor of Witchita, I'm sure he's done a fine job. Hell the mayor of Pittsburgh has bankrupted us beyond belief. You cabn take all the shots you want. His name is Tom Murphy, he's a democrat, Irish American heritage, he's soft spoken, cries a lot, wears glasses... fire away.
