No more kisses
The Washington Times ^ | February 25, 2005 | John McCaslin

Posted on 02/25/2005 8:05:56 PM PST by kingattax

This Valentine's Day, Sen. Tom Harkin, Iowa Democrat, encouraged the romantic sweethearts in his party not to buy chocolates from three of the nation's biggest chocolate producers: Hershey, Nestle and Mars. After all, he warned, all three are "red" companies — purportedly supporters of President Bush and his policies. It's not just Hershey's Kisses that Democrats were asked to give up. Outback Steakhouse is similarly a target of the left, as are hundreds of Wal-Mart stores that are "not so blue." And Democrats are pumping Hess "blue gasoline" these partisan days. "You may have voted blue, but every day you unknowingly help dump millions of dollars into the conservative war chest," reads the mission statement of Buy Blue — buyblue.org.

The Bud ad during the Super Bowl was truly worth while.

The way I see it, after looking at the Red/Blue Counties map, let the blues boycott whatever they will. When the Reds support Hershey, Outback etc. There are a hell of a lot more of us. Bye bye blues.

Yeah I visited that site buyblue. Gives me great insight in stores I want to frequent more.
ROFL

That is so funny. A freeper just mentioned on another thread....."could someone put together a list of the business' we want to support?"

Ask, and we shall receive.

Proctor and Gamble. They pulled their spots from the Dr. Laura Show or something when she said something they disagreed with. So FR started a little boycott and I went along even though I don't listen to Dr Laura ... ever.

My wife and I looked at their list of products and determined that it would be impractical, if not impossible, to eliminate all P$G products from our home, so we picked a few that we buy a lot of and decided to change brands or do without. We figured if everyone did that, it would be noticed.

I did switch to Coors Light.

Oh, dear sweet God, at least use this opportunity to switch to something approximating actual beer.

Rats! I own Proctor and Gamble stock. My late husband bought it. It is part of his IRA portfolio. :(

Believe me, avoiding P&G is not possible (so don't fret none). They own a little bit of everything. Might as well make money off 'em.

I will always remember Harkin for doing a dufus dance behind Dean during his I have a scream speech. Once again he reminds us that he is only noted for being in the limelight for being a dufus.

"Surely the good people of Iowa will remove this pox from our land in the next election cycle. I can't believe this idiot is still in office. However, he has gotten soooooo silly during this term it may well be his last."

I listen to WHO 1040 out of Iowa and the man never ceases to amaze me. I don't know how the announcers can keep a straight face with some of the things he comes up with.
