Churchill Art Piece Called Into Question
by CBS4 News reporter Raj Chohan
Feb 24, 2005 8:03 pm US/Mountain BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) Boulder County resident Duke Prentup has been a fan of native American art for as long as he can remember. That love of art took him to the home of Ward Churchill in the early 1980's, where Prentup bought several pieces of Churchill's art, including a serigraph titled "Winter Attack."
"I have enjoyed them ever since immensely, they're obviously up inside my house," Prentup said.
Last month came a stunning revelation, though, as as Prentup flipped through a 1972 book called The Mystic Warriors of the Plains written and illustrated by the late artist Thomas E. Mails. He found a sketch that was strikingly similar to the Churchill piece.

I can't imagine the University will be able to retain this disgusting piece of excrement. He lied about his heritage and now has stolen copywrited artwork. And no other place of business will have him except perhaps an extreme leftist internet publication.
Can you imagine what a University would do if a Student copyrighted information or art and tried to pass it off as their own work? What does this tell the students of the University of Colorado? If it is alright for the Professor Pycho Ward to lie or mislead about the authenticity of his own work , then surely Students at the Unversity of Colorado should lower their own bar and copy, copy, copy others works, and pass it as their own.
Exactly. Without my books, I'm stuck with only online sources. I suppose an email inquiry might yeild some results.
If you do email anyone, would you also ask 'em who, if anyone, owns the copyright to Bell's photography? As near as I can tell *SOME* of his work resides in the National Anthropological Archives
http://www.nmnh.si.edu/naa/guide/_b2.htm but some may be in the Library of Congress. (or are they the same?)
More diverse? In this case, a more diverse, marxist, white man.
The two figures are similar to photos appearing individually in Dee Brown's "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee". The male is Plate 3 (p. 35, my edition, also on cover) and the female (I dare not use another term) is Plate 2 (p. 19). I could scan them to pdf and send them to someone, but I have no way to host the images.

"**kind of makes you wonder who else is out there.."**
"Been thinking along those lines myself. Here we are putting $$ in education funds for our children and you can believe I am wondering............."
I don't "wonder" at all. Unfortunately, I know more than I ever wanted to know about our education crisis in public schools and in so-called higher education academies.
I blame Congress as the main source, as well as the U.S. Attorney General Office's lack of oversight. Politicians ARE defrauding and deceiving the American People, and it should be a Federal crime.
Mind you, I am NOT against our form of government - in precept it is the very best. I am NOT anti-American, I am passionately anti-politician - like those career politicians who do not live within their constituency and betray constituent representation. Those politicians who demonstrate more affinity with Pacs, centric groups, the special and/or subversive interests. In practice, our government is only as good and strong as those we elect and as those appointed to serve according to founding principles. I am bitterly against career politicians who compose at least 50% of Congress' membership. Most have betrayed our trust for the past 20 years or more. One of the reasons I support Bush is that he and Laura Bush shun the degenerate D.C. insider politik society.
To this very second, I cannot believe any American would vote for treasonous John Kerry after his record and history, and his bon mot "Global Test," were disclosed showing him for what he was and what he is. Scary! (Sorry for the rant...Kerry was Vichy Chirac's choice!)
Look for O'Reilly and Michelle Malkin (subbing for Sean on Hannity and Colmes tonight) to make this a national issue.
I was wondering that, too. There also seems to be some in the Keogler collection.
Professor Psycho Ward has managed to really, really piss off the Internet bloggers.
He will soon be in the Happy Hunting Ground!
Royal is saying there are photos within the book (he names pages and plates) that are similar, NOT the cover.
I've been googling myself to see if by chance any content photos are online.
Are the photos captioned?
Nah, too much work for a fraud like Churchill. He probably did copy it exactly from somewhere else.
