With the help of some really magnanimous people -- most specifically the generous and talented Jeffers M. Dodge -- I managed to revisit my Unspun ways.
In 2004, a posse of Hollywood stars came out en masse to lend their hip, fabulous selves to the presidential campaign of John F. Kerry, confident that their added (and, frankly, much needed) sparkle would ensure the defeat of incumbent President George W. Bush. Did Shiny Objects indeed distract The People? Post election, and post a rather ignominious defeat, their standard-bearer Michael Moore stated that they were indeed victorious -- that they had successfully "prevented a Bush landslide." Was that really the sole outcome? In other words, when they returned from their forays into flyover country did they find that their thrones had maintained their elevation in their absence?
Hope you enjoy it!
I have a better idea, although Anna's younguns probably preclude such an endeavor...The liberal union and politicians of the "Parking Violations Bureau" scam and their assault on the poor of Los Angeles...I would be the co-host...:)

Addressing a packed Hviezdoslavovo Square in Bratislava, Slovak Republic, President Bush today hailed images of "jubilant Iraqis dancing in the streets last month, holding up ink-stained fingers."
"In recent times, we have witnessed landmark events in the history of liberty: A Rose Revolution in Georgia, an Orange Revolution in Ukraine, and now, a Purple Revolution in Iraq."

"Purple Finger" Oscar rally UPDATE:
SUNDAY at noon: Hollywood & HIGHLAND, parking ideas, IHOP

From Merriam-Webster Online:
re·con·nais·sance - "a preliminary survey to gain information;
especially : an exploratory military survey of enemy territory."I spent a BIG chunk of Friday night on a recon mission -- right in the belly of the beast, and HERE are my recommendations:
1 - RALLY START POINT: Hollywood & HIGHLANDCLICK HERE for the rest of that thread
(NOT Hollywood and WHITLEY)
We will have to promote the "Thank you, Hollywood" billboard in some other way.
It is just TOO FAR away from the "main event" at Hollywood & Highland.2 - PARKING: 1718 N. Cherokee Ave.
(just north of Hollywood Blvd, near Musso & Frank's Grill)
Parking inside a SAFE, guarded building -- only $6 for all day.
Only two short blocks to the rally .3 - COLOR: Wear something BRIGHT RED
Or PURPLE, if you prefer
We want to STAND OUT in the crowd.
We plan to pass out the giant purple fingers some time after noon - first come, first serve.4 - post-Rally FOOD and FELLOWSHIP: International House of Pancakes
Hollywood I.H.O.P. - 7006 W. Sunset Blvd., at Orange Dr.
One block SOUTH on Highland, one block WEST on Sunset.
We can WALK there after the rally, and their prices are reasonable.
They are currently holding space in their back room for a party of TWENTY.
We will probably DOUBLE that number, and they will still have room for us.
Well spoken, eye pleasing, I see star potential here.

One of the PRIMARY objectives of this FReep was getting a MASSIVE (four foot by eight foot) full color version of the classic billboard by Citizens United:
from
www.citizensunited.org...in a "front and center" position -- DIRECTLY ACROSS from the Red Carpet arrival area.
We were EXTRAORDINARILY successful in executing that objective. :o)They say that "success has many fathers" -- and yesterday's TREMENDOUS victory was the result of the extraordinary efforts of MANY people...
...but NONE of it would have been possible without that 4' x 8' sign created by DoughtyOne.
It took considerable planning, and the resolution of many almost insurmountable obstacles -- which [in addition to the diligence of Blurblogger] required the intervention of a retired LAPD oficer, and a Captain in the U.S. Army [Special Forces], just back YESTERDAY from his second tour in Iraq ---- plus the quick thinking of the irrepressible Genevieve, and some giant of a man (who is in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen) whom she recruited from the "front lines" ---- but we got DoughtyOne's marvelous creation "front and center" for the WHOLE DAY - from 10 am to 5 pm.NO ONE arriving at the Red Carpet area could avoid seeing it. :o)CLICK HERE for the rest of that thread
I videotaped a public official once in a public meeting, where we had a person sitting on the other side of the isle asking questions. It showed me the power of the media to be able to capture a moment in time, then be able to go back and dissect that moment, and refute what was said.
With the ability that we have to capture and edit video we can even dress up in our best clothes like newscasters and intersperse our dialogue, our refutation (after the fact) with the actual comments of the elected public officials. What a great teaching tool. The possibilities are limitless.
Any comments or criticisms I have would be more along the lines of the technical nature of the production.
# The boots are great. They look good on you and give you a kind of trademark identity like Walter Winchell's hat.
# The music should have been edited-in a little more carefully so as not to make the speakers comments inaudible.
# Would a wireless, hand held microphone have been better? I don't know, just asking.
Do you have plans to go to other "freaky" parts of Los Angeles like downtown, or parts of "the Valley," or Santa Monica, or Westwood, or CSUN, or UCLA? How about going to a women's studies center on one of those campuses, nicely made up as a lady, and asking them what they think of Republican men? I'd wager you'd get the same responses just going to any Democrat party rally, and asking that question. I guarantee "wild and crazy" answers.
There are a lot of timely "issues and answers" interviews out there just waiting to happen. Perhaps your documentary efforts could be coordinated with future rally's at public events to get more people in the street comments. My guess is people might be more willing to sign releases at those kind of open, public events, than they would in their own little worlds walking down the street.
Don't you just love it when people dream up all kinds of projects for you to do with a sort of tacit implication that you really need to do those things?
Actually, I'm just brainstorming and am grateful for what you have already contributed. It's pretty obvious that you had fun doing this and that people enjoyed watching it so my #1 suggestion to you is, "Keep on having fun, doing what you're doing, whatever you choose."
If you need any other sources of good ideas about what active, conservative, highly intelligent women are thinking, I highly recommend the Independent Women's Forum Independent Women's Forum. You will find the term "gender feminist" notably absent in their identity. Lynn Chenney was one of the founding members of this group.
