President Bush nominated John Negroponte today to be the new Director of National Intelligence. Negroponte is the former ambassador to Iraq. The First Couple also hosted Paul Rusesabagina and his wife, Tatiana. Mr. Rusesabagina sheltered refugees in a Rwandan hotel where he worked as a manager, and was the subject of the movie, 'Hotel Rwanda'. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
Apropos of nothing--just watching an interview on Fox of the last day of fox-hunting. What is the consesus on this subject there in England? Looks like political correctness has run amoke over there, too!
Just read your "about" page. Your Dad is a real hero! I know you must miss him so much. I pray your Mom will be comforted as she grieves for him, that he had a full, happy life with all of you.
Thank you so much. My Dad was a very good man. We all miss him terribly, but we sure are proud of him!
Thanks for prayer for my Mom. She's doing pretty well.
'grats, you are now officially empowered! (as a bona fide photo poster)
It's a good feeling, eh?
"Enter" works if you have no HTML. If you use HTML (say, to post a photo), then you need to use HTML to make paragraphs, line breaks, etc.
If you want to post two photos side by side, just hit your space bar once or twice after the last > at the end of your first photo.
If you want to stack them vertically, type (omit the spaces) < p > to put a paragraph between two photos, or type < br > (omit the spaces) for a line break.
Is Cheney holding a (cake cutting) sword in the photo in post 198?
There are 2 things in play here. We have had alot of hunt saboteurs whether they are true animal lovers or political activists is open to debate IMHO the second category.
When the Labour Party came into power one of its pledges was to abolish hunting with dogs. This is a political one almost a class thing as historically the Labour Party with its socialist background is the working mans party in others words baning hunting with dogs is snub to the aristocracy. IMHO this is now ridiculous because modern hunting is not just the preserve of the landed gentry. Tony Blair kept promising it would happen so in the end he had to deliver.
Of course my party has pledged if it gets elected to reverse the decision. This will of course further the opinion of those not so informed that Labour=working man and Conservative=privilege.
It is interesting now though of course the demonstrators are now the pro hunt lobby and it is very interesting to see they are not the pampered rich many work for the hound master etc. By the way one of the more privileged demonstrators is in fact the pop/rock star Bryan Ferry's son who is I think a Hunt master he was one of the man who burst into the Chamber in the Commons when the so called debate was taken place.
IMHO the average man in the street is sad to see a part of our heritage disappear but feels powerless apart from causing a civil disturbance to do anything about it. This is the danger if you get a party with a too large majority in power.
The other very sad thing is that if the law is not reversed shortly then many dogs will have to be destroyed one master of hounds said he faced having to shoot possibly 90 dogs, because of how they are reared and trained they are just not suitable to be rescued and housed domestically. Also many people are not just going to loose a way of life/sport/leisure/pleasure activity but their career/job and many will find getting work elsewhere very difficult. Sorry to go on but I feel the very fabric of my society is being destroyed with this Government and this is just a small example of it.

It certainly looks like it and by the way he is licking his fingers looks as though he has already sampled it. His sweet tooth again. LOL
Hey snugs, are you still around?
Yes I am
I've been missing the dose lately. I'm going through withdrawal. I'll try and catch up on the next one. Do you know who posts on Fridays and what the usual time is?
FR mail to you, also if you want on the ping list contact GretchenM who manages this.
My first thought on this pic..........
"Here is the church, and here is the steeple
Open the doors and see all the people."
Are you too young to remember that one, hoosierkitties?
(I used to say, "Here is the church, and here is the steeple, open the door, and see how few people came out to prayer meeting." .....I was a rebel, I was...... :)
But it was in the afternoon, and very bright, so I'm surprised it went off. (I was snapping fast in case the snow stopped).
Anyway......you see a few hyperflakes among the unusually large ones to begin with!
You're right, that top picture is not flattering at all. Bottom one is excellent.
(That's what the flakes looked like here yesterday!)
Now when it gets to 60, it's a different story. But if it's going to be winter, I like the white stuff. :o)
btw, today the sky is blue, the sun is shining and the snow sparkling, and it is gorgeous!
Nice one Ohio it looks exactly like that. What a rebel you were/are!!! Your version sadly is true for today; that is the least supported meeting in a church.
Sadly true, indeed.
