There's a lesson in all of this -- keep the focus on our adversaries... And I speak as a proud Freeper of long-standing.

That's it in a nutshell.

Thanks for taking the time to comment here.

Saw this from JimRob on an earlier thread:

Sabertooth was banned because he is a whining antifreeper. There are several on FR and I allow it till I get fed up. I've had enough of Hadenuf. Dane and others could suddenly find themselves without posting priviliges when and if I get tired of the constant flamewars, but when that day comes there may be a whole lot of posters on both sides gone. You might ask yourself why the other side is still here and posting also. There is no beginning and no end to these wars and no clean hands on either side. I try to ignore it and let them rip each others eyes out until something flares up that I can no longer tolerate.

I have heard that she is now very much anti free republic but I have no first hand info on that.

I saw Connie today at CPAC in Washington. As far as I can tell she is on good terms with Free Republic and she speaks highly of DC chapter.

I understand what you are saying. I would have used some of those statements in the past when defending Sean. I would love to believe you right now- unfortunately those statements don't jive with what he, himself, said yesterday or today- on the air.

Freepers are all of those things you claim Sean is. Sure we may not make as much money as Sean does doing it- but there are numerous good things which have happened because of FR and since you have been around here for so long you know that.

He basically ran his opus for the nation to hear... except most of them don't know about the biker bar, and the anti freepers... and what this is all about.

Why in the world did he think anyone could even follow it?

He sure didn't try to give us good publicity, now did he?

There are certain individuals on this website -- some of whom are no doubt liberals pretending to be conservatives, ...

Yep.
We're inundated. but the mods and
the troll hunters are doing a great job.

He was at the front of defending the Swiftee's, a decision I do not take lightly. He won my loyalty with his defense of those men.

I didn't agree with everything Sean stated yesterday. Nor have I liked the undeserved free for all of criticism that has been unleashed on Sean for months. I can hardly hold him in contempt for difficulty in turning the other cheek given what has been leveled at him.

In the end the focus needs to be trained on our stated objectives, which shouldn't include taking down an important figure in the conservative movement. The opposition doesn't need that type of aid relief from us.

Thanks for your contribution to the discussion.

Thanks for the synopsis on these matters. Good info. I started lurking in 2000 sometime and remember reading the 'Tranny' Threads but was too late for the early stuff here.

Well, it is his site and I wasn't there, so I have no criticism. I've been here a long time and was only removed when I requested to be removed. Now I'm back. I pay nothing unless I want to. I haven't a complaint in the world. This place is awesome. Sure, I've shut down for the night mad more than once. But it is just a reflection of real life. We're emotional creatures and we have to learn to play nice with others. I've been guilty of being a tad too harsh, so I try to endure a certain amount of abuse without being a big baby about it. I've made mistakes, been careless, flip-flopped and other stuff that deserved criticism. My least favorite FReepers are those who can never admit when they're wrong.

Thanks, AmericanMade, for the kind words about my site. (Great screen name, by the way.)

Like I said, I didn't single you out on purpose. I just happened to see your post because it had followed mine. I know there's been far worse invective thrown about by folks on both sides of the debate.

Best,
SP

IMO, Jim and the mods do amazingly well balancing between anarchy and censorship. The thread my quote came from was initiated by Jim in response to complaints by others outside FR that he was too controlling. On the other hand, Sean was saying just the opposite -- flame wars have led to the decline of FR in his eyes. For myself (and I suspect a majority of FReepers), I'm not unhappy with the mix of freedom and control demonstrated here.

I was listening to a radio talk show the other day and the host said that the MSM LOVES to be able to interview a Republican that will contradict or disagree with another Republican. They said that that is media "gold"---

Why don't they say that about dems? Because they walk in ignorant or stubborn lock-step---

I personally like to hear when there are more than one solution to a problem, with a healthy dose of debate. I think that it is one of the reasons that I like Free Republic--we all have the same goals (mostly), but we have different paths that we want to take---

More often than not the debates are very humorous as well as enlightening---

I for one, think this should be the last day of FR v Hannity and we should find some poor liberal shmuck to slam!!!
