"Wonderful Husband. Loving Father. Former Homosexual. Jesus Christ Changes Lives."
So read the billboards sponsored by Stephen Bennett, the head of a Christian family advocacy group based in Huntingdon, Connecticut. The ad, part of a nationwide campaign last year opposed to same-sex marriage, features a large photo of Bennett with his lovely wife and two children.
Some advertising companies refused to accept Bennetts ads because of their "controversial content." Wherever the ads were posted, gay rights activists rose up in anger to protest the very idea that homosexuals can change, or even should want to.
But Bennett is one of thousands of practicing homosexuals who has reversed his sexual orientation and found fulfillment in heterosexual marriage. His message is simple: unhappy gays do have hope because real change is possible.
Why do the radical gay activists resent Bennetts message so much? Because it clearly refutes the urban myth they have so carefully crafted: the lie that about 10 percent of the population is "born gay" and simply cant help it. Many today are being taught to believe that homosexuality is a genetic condition, like skin or eye color. This deception has been nurtured over the years by the pro-homosexual major media. But like other urban myths, this is a lie. (To learn more about how this myth got started, go to http://www.narth.com/docs/istheregene.html ) . . . . .

Bump.
I saw someone wearing gay jeans in San Francisco a few years ago. The back pockets were cut out exposing their butt cheeks. If I had ever had any thoughts of becoming gay, that pretty much would have ended it right there.
And its a belief that is impossible to argue. I have discussed this with intelligent people, and they refuse to believe that outside elements have anything to do with sexual preference. It baffles me with how little we know about human behavior, that some people can take the extreme position they know that it is all about genetics. Human behavior is much more complex than that and science refutes a real strong genetic link.
If there IS a gay gene, will the homosexual community suddenly become pro-life?
It's obviously some mix of nature and nurture.
Hmmmmmmmm! Being censored for his chosen sexual identity, Eh?!?
Gene therapy?
The NYT ran a Science Times story years ago about a lesbian professor who doesn't want homosexuality restricted to a genetic explanation, leaving the option open for "lifestyle" choices. Reality is gays will scream genetics as a basis for civil rights protection, but they want to promote the gay lifestyle and increase gay numbers. My goodness, can anyone seriously doubt that when hundreds of films and tv shows are constantly promoting the idea that lesbian sex is a wonderful thing that every schoolgirl or grown woman just has to try?
I have never been convinced that a "real" gay person could convert into a hetero, but this guy has changed my mind. I have seen other "converts" who basically still seemed gay, just pretending to be straight, but this guy sounded like the real deal.
I'm thinking more along the lines of "if parents know their conceived child will be gay, will most opt for abortion"? -- which would probably cause outrage in the gay community...
If there is a gay gene and they are not reproducing should not dawinisam play a role here and wipe them out through evolution?
The left is so keen on evolution and all...
I recall a discussion about this on radio in Boston a few years back: If a pregnant woman has a test and the "gay gene" is detected, is that a reason to abort? The calls were a myriad of conflicting opinions.
BTTT
If you want on/off the ping list see my profile page.
Next obvious example. Prisoners turning to gay sex when no female sex partners are available.
Not only is there a gay Gene, there is also a Gay Mike, Gay Steve, and Gay John. I'm sure there are others.
Ya know, I've never understood why the argument of whether or not it's "natural" has any bearing on whether or not a homosexual lifestyle needs or deserves legal sanctioning.
Mental retardation is also "natural". We legally recognize Down's Syndrome as a debilitating condition that renders the person permanently dependent on the care of others. Our laws work differently for victims of Down's Syndrome than they do for other adults; retards cannot serve on a jury, cannot vote (unless they're a Democrat), cannot be executed for a capital offense, etc. Having Down's Syndrome is a consequence of a person's genetic makeup, and cannot be a result of their own life choices.
Next example: Men's attraction to full bodied women changing to preference for thin narrowly structured women, as the result of a women's fashion industry which, btw, is in many ways dominated by gay men.
Quote: can anyone seriously doubt that when hundreds of films and tv shows are constantly promoting the idea that lesbian sex is a wonderful thing that every schoolgirl or grown woman just has to try?
Anne Heche said her sex with the ellen degenerate was the best sex she ever had. Wonder how many females decided to experiment with another female after that?
