I still don't understand why trace amounts of methane on Mars means life, but oceans of methane on Titan are natural.

They are desperate to find out what could be producing the methane,Underground herds of cows of course. What else could it be?

If there is life on Mars, how do we go about exploring the planet without having a negative impact on that life?
I'm not talking about a Prime Directive. I just wonder whether or how deeply the powers that be consider the ramifications of alien robots (ours) running around up there and possibly interfering in native ecosystems, however primitive, microscopic, or insignificant they may be.
I'm not any kind of earthy hippy type at all, just curious what opinions on that are.

Stoker and Lemkes research could lead the search for Martian biology underground, where standing water would help account for the curious methane signatures the two have been analyzing. They are desperate to find out what could be producing the methane, one attendee told Space News. Their answer
is drill, drill, drill.
DUmmies: I knew it I knew it! This is Bush/Cheney cabal doing - they are going to destroy the environment on Mars for oil!

"Methane" huh?
There is also evidence that there is a large pocket of methane produced by the DNC. Please give ne $2Billion so I can go investigate. And BTW my robot will work.
