Green Day Tests Grammy Censors
AP ^ | February 13, 2005 | By DAVID BAUDER,

In true punk rock fashion, Green Day tested the censors at the Grammy Awards on Sunday _ and the censors were ready. The Bay Area rockers, on a career high with their "American Idiot" album, added a shot of rock 'n' roll adrenaline by performing the title cut. The disc won the Grammy for best rock album.

The song includes a prominent obscenity in one of the lyrics, but the censors were plainly prepared and neatly excised the word. They couldn't delete, however, singer Billie Joe Armstrong's pointed political reference to not wanting to be part of a redneck agenda.

Green Day was energetic and confident, a band that's grown up but hasn't left its punk roots behind: witness the smoothly practiced leap and landing from the riser by drummer Tre Cool. And Armstrong was a live wire.

By the way, what's up with trios that expand to quartets onstage but pretend the other member doesn't exist? At least the camera operators didn't completely ignore the mysterious fourth member on guitar.

Maybe you are having an acid flashback? ;) FYI, Nora Jones is the daughter of Ravi Shankar

Nope. I've been drug free since birth!

All I know about Norah:

- She has some connection to my city of Dallas.

- When I hear her sing, I want to have many children with her. :-)

Little Billy Joe, BJ for short wants everyone to know he's not part of a redneck agenda. But he is down with the butt boy brigade which is made up of AIDS infested rump raiders. After all BJ isn't only his name it's his favorite activity that he performs on strange men in dark outhouses. He's such a filthy little loser it's no wonder why liberals love him.

Everything made after [fill in the year you were 21] is crap!

When I first heard Mozart during my late teens, I had to ask myself: Why does any songwriter even bother? The most perfect music has already been written, and it stopped being written after Mozart died.

Decades later, I've given others a chance, and although Mozart still rules the musical heap, I'm glad others are still trying.

I just don't get it. Artists can make great music, fun music, entertaining music (what it's SUPPOSED to do: entertain), but if it has ANY politics in it (specifically liberal leanings), it's suddenly not "good music" anymore.

"Green Day SUCKS!" -- I don't know how many times I've heard this on FR, but I bet a good number of the people who say that haven't even heard them, or of them.

Green Day's music gets my head bobbing, gets my toes tapping, and makes me sing along. THAT is good music. If you don't like them, fine, don't like them. Hey, it's your opinion, and sometimes people have good reasons for not liking them, i.e. I don't like the sound of it. If you do like them, fine, you do. But make sure you have a good reason to back up whatever you say.

"Everything made after [fill in the year you were 21] is crap!"

You're right, the late 60's and early 1970's ruled. Everything now is total crap!

The MC5

Sonic's Rendezvous Band

but I'm only 24, for what it's worth...

As you will notice, there is no indication whatsoever, that the first line in your post was actually quoting Sam Adams.

I thought the line was original to you!

Please do this when replaying to someone.

I will show you the HTML code you need to italicize the section that you pull to quote.

To italicize a section of the following sentence, type this way:

This is what <I>Ethyl had to say.</I>.

It will show up like this when you post like this:

This is what Ethyl had to say.

I hope this helps so poor folks won't get confused with what you post as I did. :o)

BTW....do this at the end of sentences:

</BR>

And this:

</P>

to start a new paragraph.

That's a quick lesson on HTML.

Yes, I love the Ramones, too. But that doesn't make Green Day suck any less. Sorry.

YIKES....I screw that last section up.

Do THIS at the end of a sentence <BR> and THIS <P> to separate paragraphs.

To BOLD something do this.

To <B>BOLD</B> something do this.

No ..it's NOT good music PERIOD..No one in that band is particularly good on their instruments at all . Songs are inane and not very well written .
