Most of the people ordering cigarettes online are buying them in enormous quantities and reselling them. It is $75 million in tax money they are taking right out of our pockets.
If that is true, it would not take the ATF long to arrest the ones doing it. Where did you get your information?
"Most of the people ordering cigarettes online are buying them in enormous quantities and reselling them. It is $75 million in tax money they are taking right out of our pockets."
WTF are you talking about? It's not your money in any way.
Looks to me as if YOUR the one in other peoples pockets!
If your communist government didn't have smell fixations your government extortion's might be a good deal higher. Reminds me of probation.

Well then, raise taxes on junk food and alcohol and candy and anything else you think is bad for the people. And claim it's all for the children.
I've got a news flash for you. They're not taking anything out of your pocket. Anytime you're talking about taxes you're talking about the state taking money out of the peoples' pockets. Seems you're a little mixed up.
Link, please.
I don't believe it.
I've bought cigarettes on line many times, and the max I could buy with one purchase was two cartons.
Now, I suppose I could have bought two cartons every day for sixty days and had a pretty good stash, but I don't think the profit would have been worth the time.

No, the politicians took the money out of our pockets when they got certifiably stupid with their mega tax hike on cigarettes. This was bot predictable and predicted.
Frankly I'm glad for every cent "stolen"
Taking out of YOUR POCKETS????
So. You are from New York. Probably NYC. By taking the taxes out of "your pockets," are you just a little afraid that with the loss of revenue from the smokers, that maybe.............just maybe the City will be taxing something 'you' love pretty soon to make up for the loss of money? Sounds like it to ME!
Highly doubtful.
If you are a rational consumer, would you rather pay $70 for a carton of cigarettes, including $35 to the greedy (overreaching for-your-own-good) government? or would you rather buy a carton or two online for $15. Heck, I don't even smoke and I know the answer to that one.
It's just typical economics 101. If I lived up in NY, I'd be filling up my tank of gas in NJ too any chance I could get to avoid the obscene taxes that NY imposes.
You reap what you sow NY. Try LOWERING taxes and see the revenue come back to you. Oh wait, you can't do that because it's for the children politicians.

Good for them. entrepreneurism at it's finest. Find a need and fill it.
Still got that cushy state job, eh?
And your proof is where...
Don't forget, this is the same state that sent "detectives" across the river to New Jersey malls to take down the license plate numbers of cars with NY tags, and sent letters to the owners informing them that it's illegal to go across state lines to avoid paying taxes (I don't know if it's still the case, but back then, NJ had no sales tax on clothing). I know this is the case, because my father received one of those letters.
When it comes to money, as far as government is concerned (especially NY governments), "All your money are belong to US!" What we actually keep is through their "good will."
