Top CNN exec resigning over Davos remarks By Carolyn Pritchard CBS MarketWatch Last Updated: 6:40 PM ET Feb 11, 2005 SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- CNN's top news executive, Eason Jordan, said Friday he's resigning amid controversy over his assertion that journalists were targeted and killed by coaltion forces in Iraq. "After 23 years at CNN, I have decided to resign in an effort to prevent CNN from being unfairly tarnished by the controversy over conflicting accounts of my recent remarks regarding the alarming number of journalists killed in Iraq," he said in a note to CNN staff. CNN is a unit of Time Warner (TWX: News, Quote) .

I would strongly suggest HE DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE.
The bottom line is - CNN is losing viewers - this would not have helped .. and I believe the higher ups gave Jordan a choice - either resign or be fired.

I guess News journalism is JUST a little incestuous--just like having a reporter/jounalist get fired from one network, then goes to another---
But, just like I have realized by watching "Newswatch" on Saturday night, these guys most of the time make excuses for each other---I have become pretty disallusioned watching them rationalize so of the behaviour of their peers-Cal Thomas isn't TOO bad, but even he kinda gets squishy sometimes--
The Davos organizers have said the session, like most at the forum, was off-the-record, and they have refused to release a transcript to preserve their commitment.[Refused?! They don't say whether they ASKED!]
