Blaze probe shows tie to eco-terrorists

Federal agents and local law and fire officials are investigating the possibility that a blaze set at a newly constructed apartment complex was the work of an environmental group that may be responsible for at least two other acts of arson in the Sierra foothills in recent months.

Flames broke out at 3 a.m. Monday at the Pinewoods apartments in Sutter Creek, about 45 miles east of Sacramento. A sprinkler system saved the 100- unit complex from ruin.

Firefighters found seven firebombs at the scene. Graffiti associated with the eco-terrorist group known as Environmental Liberation Front, or ELF, was also found on the site, said Angel Armstrong, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Sacramento.

Any members of ELF should be sent to Gitmo as they are members of a terrorist organization.
