Sen. John Kerry reiterated his pledge on Monday to sign the form that would allow the government to release all his military records, but said he wanted to know exactly what was in his file before doing so.
"I have a stack of different material they sent me," Kerry told radio host Don Imus. "Every time they send me something I want to know what they sent me."
"I'll get it done," Kerry insisted in the next breath.
Last week the 2008 presidential hopeful suggested he wanted to review his full Navy file to make sure of "what is in the record and what isn't in the record" before signing Form 180.
"I'm going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn't in the record and we'll put it out," he told "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert.
Kerry did not explain his reference to "what isn't in the record," though questions arose late in the campaign about why he received his honorable discharge six years after leaving the service.
Pressed earlier today on when he intended to sign Form 180, Kerry said only, "Shortly."
The full exchange went like this:
IMUS: You also told Tim that you would sign Form 180 releasing all of your military records. Have you done that?
KERRY: Yeah. We're gonna do that. Absolutely, I will. But listen, I also think . . .
IMUS: When are you going to do that?
KERRY: As soon as I get, as required by the military, precisely . . .
IMUS: Why don't you do it today?
KERRY; Because I have a stack of different material they sent me. Every time they send me something I want to know what they sent me. I'll get it done. . . .
IMUS: By noon today?
KERRY: No. But shortly. [END OF EXCERPT]
Gonna scrub them files first, baby. Gonna scrub 'em hard!
Is it possible that sKerry thinks he will be able to sign a SF 180 with a restriction clause that prevents the disclosure of specified records or allows only the release of records specifically listed in a restriction clause on the SF 180?
Word on the street is that kerry hired Sandy Burger to make the document review.
He's as truthful as he's ever been.
Thank you. Good post.
Bravo for posting that. Thank God for guys like you and the Swiftboat Vets.
This is more fun than when Nixon kept denying the tapes existed.
On a side note:
McCain:
Mr. President, I am pleased to be joined by my good friends and colleagues Senators Feingold from Wisconsin, and Lott from Mississippi, and our good friends who lead the campaign finance reform fight in the House, Representatives Shays and Meehan, in introducing a bill to end the illegal practice of 527 groups spending soft money on ads and other activities to influence federal elections.
I'm curious as to why McCain is behind the 527 Reform Act, is it a ligitimate concern because of people like Soro's or is it really the SBV that he wants to neutralize. He really isn't a friend of GWB, but he does like Kerry.. Maybe the 527's do need some reform but I don't trust McCain.
Even if he doesn't do it he is still doing damage to himself by stating on record that he will do it.We all know that he has something to hide but it becomes even more obvious to others who will want to know why he keeps changing his mind.I don't know if he can have information removed but I'm sure he's doing everything he can to clean out his closet.
He knows exactly what's in it.
Imus: What are you hiding Mr. Kerry?
Kerry: Hiding? I'm not hiding anything, I'm proud of my military service.
Imus: Then when will you release the papers?
Kerry: I have a plan for that...
I have no idea if you can add such restrictions to a SF 180 authorization. Kerry could prevent the release of his medical records, but then I don't know how far he can go. If were to place such restrictions on the release of his records, it would raise even more interest in what he was possibly hiding.
Agree. I thought McCain's criticism of the SBVFT was out of line, especially calling them dishonorable. As far as 527s are concerned, I would rather keep them unrestricted rather than add to the McCain-Feingold restrictions on political speech. Admittedly, there were abuses expecially by the Dems, which used Soros and Moveon.org as mouthpieces for the Dem Party. The SBVFT were a true 527 and I would hate to see any such group muzzled in the next Presidential campaign. I am for full disclosure and no restrictions on political speech. McCain-Feingold needs to be repealed.
LOL!
But he knows, once he signs the DD180, he can go through them until he's blue in the face. It doesn't matter what he finds thats in them and not in them. If he signs, then reporters can get the dame papers.
If he doesn't sign or if he delays it means he wants to scrub them before he signs so that all of the discriminating evidence is cleaned first. He's a dishonest piece of crap is the only reason he won't sign
ping
You got it. Mclame cannot be trusted to support the President or real America. His psychotic hatred of President Bush overrides any reasonable/sane activity that could help him. This isn't new, he has been a RINO for years.
