Deep Throat Close to Death It appears the Watergate source known as "Deep Throat" may be close to death, and that means that individuals name may be made public for the first time.
Reporter Bob Woodward has said in the past that he would disclose the identity of the course when that person died. Deep Throat helped Woodward and the Washington POst expose the Nixon Water gate scandal.
The Washington Post has already prepared an obituary, which means the world may soon know the secret Woodward has managed to keep for 30-years.
I suspected Linda Lovelace.

I believe there is corroboration --and no lawsuit from "Mr. Traynor" (sp?). She was quite public about it.
There is not only no corroboration, there are dozens of people who have gone on record as saying she lied. In fact, she had already written two books that totally contradicted her later claims (no doubt with a "gun to her head"). Even the FBI officers that investigated the porn industry, specifically the producers' of Deep Throat, did not believe her claims. And her sexual exploits outside the industry became legendary, as did her drug use.
She also went back to the adult industry and did modeling for a fetish magazine after her notorious claims were made.
The fact she regretted doing porn later in life is not all that surprising, and she said what she had to say to be able to cope with, and cash in on, her past.
I have read a lot about Ms. Lovelace recently. Basically, the only thing she said that seems to ring true is that Chuck was an abusive jerk. That does not quite equate to her claim that she literally had a gun to her head when filming Deep Throat. And many who knew them both are convinced they were involved in S&M.
Fred Fielding is a good theory. Although, W. Mark Felt may be the better guess. He had all the motives to drop the bomb on the Nixon administration and he had access to all the Watergate information via J. Edgar Hoover's FBI. Felt was the "underboss" of the FBI at the time of the Watergate scandal. As well, Bernstein's ex-wife claimed Felt was Deep Throat. And just the same, Bernstein's son, Jacob (9 years old at the time) was heard telling one of his friends that he was "100% sure" that Felt was, in fact, Deep Throat. There's been nobody closer to that information over the years than Bernstein's ex-wife and his own son. So, no doubt, I take it with just a grain of salt rather than a handful. And besides, Felt was born in 1913, so his days are most likely numbered in the year of our lord, 2005.

I believe it was W. Mark Felt. He had all the motives and means to bring the Nixon White House down as far as Watergate is concerned.
Gerald Ford.
Rehnquist? He was at the Justice Department until late '71. No one ever said DT had firsthand knowledge of every fact he shared with Woodward. Who knows who was telling who what back then.....

Accusation? That's an interesting choice of words. Do you mean to imply you believe Deep Throat did something wrong by exposing criminal activities in the Nixon White House?
The implication is that a trusted insider maneuvered, led, orchestrated the MSM, political enemies, protest groups from hardball politics to the brink of a presidential impeachment.
Nixon was going to win the election handily from the start.
Nixon was not involved in the burglary plan.
Undoubtedly "crisis management" occurs in every administration to minimize political fallout.
Looking back the clumsy attempt to cover up the clumsy break-in is more laughable than impeachable. I am mostly concerned that a dead person without ability to defend himself will be accused of being deep throat by reporter Bob Woodward. The person Woodward names will live in infamy forever.
