Fox News : NO Michael Jackson News. Please!!!

Posted on 02/01/2005 9:04:23 PM PST by llevrok

It is only day two of the trial. Enough Already!! If you agree, write Fox and tell them to move on to REAL news! Their ratings will soar, if they do.

I'm attempting to train my TV to turn off automatically when Michael Jackson's name is mentioned. As long the tabloid obsessed keep watching, Fox is going to OD for months on Jackson. I would suggest these possible alternatives to Michael Jackson 24/7 on Fox:

Lou Dobbs on CNN
Joe Scarborough on MSNBC
The Hallmark Channel
Turner Classic Movie Channel
HGTV

Yeah, FOX cries wolf too much. I have become immune to a FOX News Alert. So if another 9/11 occurs someone call me, because I will ignore the FOX NEWS ALERT.

I'd be pleased if they just didn't consider so many minor news items as 'breaking news' updates, with that odd sound and graphic.

It gets on my nerves.

I know I'm in the minority here, but "the news" is more than politics.

When the 6th-ranked Top 40 artist of the rock era (who broke into the business as a child star) is charged with child molestation, it's obviously newsworthy...especially considering all the weirdness surrounding the accused: the self-inflicted trauma to the face and skin, the intimations of parental abuse, the marriage to LISA MARIE PRESLEY, friendships with midgets, the aquisition of the Elephant Man's bones, hanging a baby off a balcony in France, oxygen treatments, etc. etc. etc......

When people perceived as freaks by other people get into this kind of trouble, news organizations focus heavily on the events associated with these stories because that's what news organizations do. As a whole, Freepers are probably less interested in Michael Jackson than any demographic on earth...but this is the kind of story that fascinates a huge number of people.

And I hope he didn't do it.

Just what do you expect Gretta to do? Gossip mongering ____ that she is. Lord knows she couldn't hold up a real news show.

I agree and don't agree. As with Scott Peterson, Gary Condit and now MJ, he is not news. There are thousand of folks out there doing what those 3 did or allegedly did. Why go on ad nausium?

Be a reporter. Dig up a story for a change (a lost art, I might add).

Good point. I'm so sick of Hannity and Lizard Face's bickering I could barf. I mostly switch to the history channel any more. I watch O'reilly with half an eye as i cruise the web but he's a bore.

They need to give Laura Ingrahm a show. She makes O'blowhard look like a punk.

I've noticed the cable networks, especially Foxnews, are desparately looking for another "Man kills wife" story ala Scott Peterson. They've been hyping the story about the lady found dead in Thunderbolt, GA among other things.

I'm so sick of it, are there NO other newsworthy events they can put on air???

Here's the thing. We don't live in the 1920s or 1940s; sordid news about Fatty Arbuckle or Errol Flynn could be easily managed because the media consisted of newspapers, magazines and some radio broadcasts; and celebrities were pretty much given a free ride by the press. Today we not only have television; we have cable news channels requiring new stories every 24 hours. The Jackson story is a dream come true to the news networks, because it fills air time with a story people are interested in seeing.

In my opinion the Michael Jackson story is far more worthy of airtime than a former U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg's opinion of a statement by the Secretary Of The Interior...and that's the kind of thing I see regularly on FOXNews.

I don't even watch TV that much and I'm sick of seeing that creature. What is just about as equally disgusting as the creature himself are his throngs of fans.

Oh, they gotta have something for Greta to talk about. I was thinking she was going to hop on the story about the baby being cut out--seemed like it was right up her alley and at a convenient time--Scott Peterson had just petered out.

Thanks, I thought I was the only person alive to feel this way. I turned H&C off tonight - AFTER Zell Miller.
