TERRI SCHINDLER SCHIAVO FEBRUARY DAILY THREAD 2005: TERRI IS OUR VALENTINE!
Free Republic and various sources | December 30, 2004, January 31, 2005 | Florida Voter

Posted on 01/31/2005 9:14:49 PM PST by TAdams8591

*Michael, HAVE A HEART !!!!!For Valentines Day give Terri back to her MOM & DAD, The Schindlers!!!!!!!!*

The Terri Schindler Schiavo Daily Threads are created month to month as we watch local and national news regarding Terri and her family.

Since Terri's supporters are in every time zone, you may see something FIRST. Please share news with us that you don't see here already. Now, why would you want to do that? Terri's Daily Thread for September/October of 2004 was viewed over 15,000 times. Terri's November Daily Thread was viewed over 6,000 times. December's thread is over 3,000 views. January 2005 Daily Thread was a RECORD HIGH!!!!!!! 15, 103 VIEWS!!!!!!

More and more good folks are finding out about Terri and that judicial tyranny would take her life, but for lots and lots of prayer and non-stop lobbying of relatives, friends, clergy, our leaders, the media, a passerby, a cashier - ANYONE who you feel comfortable chatting with.

Folks always want to know how can this be in America or on earth for that matter? Unfortunately, this is really happening to an innocent woman who just celebrated her 41st birthday. She's not the only one but she's the one with devoted parents and siblings who knows what's in Terri's heart. Terri has a strong will to live. That's apparent. It's been 14 years.

Besides, feeding tubes have been around practically since the Civil War. They are not high tech devices. Terri is "not hooked up to machines". Her feeding tube is the diameter of a piece of spaghetti.

Talkin' about Terri is the best way to lobby for her. It is a salespitch to save her life and subsequently, many lives. If you've never sold anything in your life, START NOW. START WITH TERRI.

See Terri's flash movies if you need more information. You can see for yourself that's she's interactive and follows the doctor's instructions.

Visit: http://www.terrisfight.org

NOTE: Terri's December Dailies are noted as a source above. There are lots of important links at the very top of that thread. If you missed Terri's Celebration of Life, you can click on it from there.

AGAIN WE HAVE A NEW RECORD: 15,103 views on the tote board for the Terri Schindler Schiavo January Daily Thread!

The most significant event in Terri's case in January, was the Supreme's Courts refusal to hear Governor Jeb Bush's appeal, after the Florida State Legislature struck down Terri's Law. This once again places Terri's life in extreme jeopardy, though there are other issues regarding her case before the court.

OFF, you're a fine man, don't sell yourself short. I re-posted Orrin Hatch's contact info.

Then there's the ever popular Pinellas County GOP Headquarters who say "J. Greer is a fair man."

THEY ARE BEING FED LIES BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE PINELLAS GOP.

#727-539-6009.

If they hang up on freepers, please do a post and tell us why they hung up on you and what they said. Ir's important to report your exchange with them to the National Republican Party. They need to know about the renegade GOP HQ in Pinellas who are pro-death.

If we vigil again, someone can set you up in their home so you don't have to spend cash here. There is a quiet boycott of Pinellas County beaches and towns that's already begun. Those places have NEVER stood up for Terri by contactint their Fla legislators that it is illegal, immoral and inhumane what's been done to Terri for over a decade.

PINELLAS COUNTY RELIES "ON TOURISM". How will they like the pain of "NO TOURISM"?

"J. Greer is a fair man."

People who say this must be Floridians who have bought beachfront property in Alaska.

Great idea to ping Utah freepers to contact Orrin Hatch. They can all contact Orrin Hatch plus they are his constituents.

The more the merrier. Judge Roy Moore has also been contacted thanks to freepers from Alabama.

TR, they have an index card at Pinellas GOP HQs that reads: JUDGE GREER IS A FAIR MAN.

It doesn't even matter what the caller says because they will be hung up on if they mention Terri's name or Jeb Bush's name for that matter. 727-539-6009. (I doubt they've changed their tune since my last call). I don't know why they can't just get over GREER and face reality. HE IS TOAST, HE DID IT TO HIMSELF. I'm on board if we need to try and get him IMPEACHED through the Florida House. If it comes down to the wire, I'm going to ask for Greer's impeachment.

Everyone should ping their respective locales. The more states we can get involved the better. Please ping your lists for them to ping their states.

Recently, a friend's family, one of whom was her guardian, wanted to keep her in a nursing home for the rest of her life because of minor problems with her short term memory.

We helped her get an attorney, because she had only been represented by her family's attorney, paid for out of he own trust fund. Through the help of her attorney, she was able to convince the judge to have another family member and friend share her guardianship with her immediate family member. After that her attorney helped to win her complete emancipation. Of course my friend had a far more reasonable judge who thought the family's plans for my friend were HARSH.

Terri is not able herself to secure her own attorney. That doesn't mean she doesn't have a RIGHT to have one. She does.

Judge Greer had better see it that way.

Letters to the editor regarding the article "State Investigating Schiavo Foundation" in the Palm Beach Post can be posted on this site:
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/opinion/content/info/mail.html

Link to the report:
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/content/news/epaper/2005/02/08/a8a_schiavo_0208.html

The reporter, Dara Kam, failed to mention that attorney George Felos received well over $500,000 in his efforts to end Terri's life. Ms. Kam also failed to report that attorney Deborah Bushnell has threatened the Schindlers with court action if they didn't comply with her demands to remove the videos of their daughter on www.terrisfight.org

Ms. Kam refers to the different groups of people who support Terri as "anti-abortion advocates." She failed to mention that many disability and human rights groups support Terri's right to live.

Schiavo hates the Schindler family with a passion greater than his lust for money. Killing Terri is in part vengeance on her natural family. Schiavo gets "high" whenever Terri comes close to death. The last two times he went into deep depression after death was denied at the last minutes. He is also one of the most self-centered persons that I have ever seen in the national arena. What has always amazed me is his popularity in FL!

Without that attorney, my friend had virtually no rights and could not speak for herself. Her guardian had ALL the POWER over her life. We were STUNNED when we realized it.

My friends attorney made points similar to those now being made by Terri's attorney.

Only an IDIOT would have made the decisions Judge Greer made in this case.

It would be good idea for all of us to get into writing who our guardian will be, should we become incapacitated (even temporarily).

What is the story on that? They would of shut them down by now if they could, right?

If any of you freeps felt like letting off a bit of steam today, here's your opportunity. This piece of slop appears in the Herald Today online. Letters to the editor can be sent to: dklement@heraldtoday.com

(Additions mine)

Let Terri die
High court pass should end Schiavo case
http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/news/opinion/10851186.htm

The U.S. Supreme Court has by its silence upheld Terri Schiavo's right to die (there is no constitutional right to die). But even the highest court in the land can't assure that Terri's parents will open that right to her any time soon.

When will enough be enough for the 41-year-old Pinellas County woman who has been in an irreversible vegetative state for almost 15 years? Undeterred by the Supreme Court's refusal to consider the merits of a ruling by Florida's highest court ruling, her parents vow to press other challenges in lower courts to prevent the removal of the ventilation (Terri's on ventilation now?) and feeding tubes that keep their daughter alive. Defying consistent opinions by doctors regarding Terri's hopeless condition (and hearing out more than a dozen who call this a misdiagnosis and say their daughter can improve with rehabilitation) and state law defining the conditions for removal of artificial life-support systems, Robert and Mary Schindler refuse to concede that their daughter is brain-dead (probably because she isn't). As a result, they have made her case a cause celebre in the right-to-life movement.

As we said last fall when the Florida Supreme Court overruled a law hastily passed by the Legislature with Gov. Jeb Bush's prodding to ban removal of Terri's life-support tubes, this case is not about euthanasia (killing someone who is not dying is euthanasia - or murder, if you prefer), cruelty (starvation is cruel and barbaric) or right to life. It is about the rule of law. Florida has defined in state statutes the conditions under which artificial life-prolonging measures may be withdrawn (they have also defined the retained rights of incapacitated persons which say Terri is entitled to ordinary care - including food and water). The statutes provide that the spouse, not the parents, makes the ultimate decision (the statutes provide that the surrogate makes the decision), based on the patient's written or expressed wishes and the advice of medical experts that the condition is irreversible. Though Terri left no "living will" spelling out her wishes, her husband Michael has testified that she had told him she would not want to be kept alive in a vegetative state (and family and friends have testified that this was never her attitude about life and death - those people had nothing to gain financially or otherwise by Terri's death).

Of course one empathizes with the Schindlers, who grieve over their daughter's state and fervently believe she can be revived if given enough care, despite medical opinion to the contrary (BECAUSE of medical opinion that Terri CAN improve and IS aware). But legal issues involving life or death cannot be decided on emotion. Emotion is what has prompted the interest by right-to-life groups (don't forget the disability groups and human rights advocates) around the country. It's what prompted the Legislature, led by Gov. Bush, to hastily pass Terri's Law in 2003 to overrule the courts that said it was legal to pull the plug.

That was a clear breach of the constitutional separation of powers between executive, legislative and judicial branches of government (there is a clear breach of the separation of powers doctrine by the judge who is acting as surrogate and adjudicator of the surrogate). It was that principle that the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed by declining to get involved last week.

The technology for artificial maintenance of life makes necessary clear, well-defined laws regulating use of that technology. If emotion is allowed to overrule those laws we will be left with a chaotic situation in end-of-life decisions that call for certainty and clarity.

People make such decisions every day. Family members of comatose patients are forced to weigh their loved one's wishes and the best medical advice at hand. Agreeing to discontinue artificial aids like ventilation and feeding tubes is not, as the right-to-lifers insist, a disrespect for life (it certainly is if the action is intended to kill as opposed to allow natural death). Rather it is a recognition of medical reality and respect for their loved one's wish to die a natural death with dignity (starvation and dehydration is neither natural nor dignified).

That is the principle that keeps getting lost in the heated debate over Terri Schiavo. Her parents and supporters should step back and allow nature to complete her death (it hasn't even started - perhaps the inept and negligent guardian should step aside so that Terri may receive the care the law entitles her to).

Welcome to Free Republic!

Michael's lawyers, Bushnell and Felos, are well connected. That is so apparent. We have to make phone call after phone call, e-mail after e-mail to get anything done. We're just the little people, but I hope we have enough of us making a sound about this that we can turn this mess around.
