California...More Conservatives than Texas or Florida?
US Census, Election | 1-30-05 | Bob J

Posted on 01/30/2005 11:40:42 AM PST by Bob J

Attention all you CA bashers, particularly those of you so filled with jeolosy about the Golden State you can't help posting ignorant and provincial comments.

We won't mention that CA gave this country Ronald Reagan or that this state passed, by wide margins, propositions to eliminate bi-lingual education and restrictions on benefits to illegal aliens. It wouldn't be kosher to mention we just tossed a liberal/socialist Governor out on his derrier. We won't talk about how Free Republic was created in CA, that the first activism chapter was in LA or that the very first DC Rally (The MArch for Justice in '98) that helped launch FR activism around the country was planned and organized in CA by Californians. Let's not compare the size of its economy with other states (If CA were a country, it would have the 7th largest in the world), and that the taxes paid by Californian's pay for much of other states infrastructure projects and welfare benefits. That would be piling on and not a fair fight.

How about we keep it simple and just compare raw numbers of conservatives. According to the latest census and election results in '04, CA has almost 15 million of us, compared to 12 million in Texas and only 8 million in Florida, the next 2 most populous states.

Let me post that again...

Conservative Totals

California - 14.9 million
Texas - 12.7 Million
Florida - 8.3 Million.

Read it and weep..it ain't braggin' if it's true.

So you keyboard cowboys who hate everything and never get off your butt to make something happen, take your ignorant and spiteful comments about CA falling off into the ocean and put them where sun don't shine.

To be honest, the conservative cause could do a lot better without you than without the 15 million conservatives in this state.

I didn't diss AZ, I used the posters own words and switched CA for AZ. Let's call it satire.

In 2000 the county that gave the most votes to Gore was Los Angeles county in California. It was also the county that gave the most votes to Bush, to Nader, to Buchanan, to Browne, and to Phillips. Bush also won plenty of votes in Orange County CA, which he carried, and Cook County IL.

The results were similar this time. Every candidate got his highest vote totals in LA county except Nader (who wasn't on the ballot in California). Four out of the five counties that gave Bush the most votes were in red states (LA, Orange, and SD counties in CA, Cook county in IL -- the other was Maricopa county in AZ).

Part of the problem may be that we have two kinds of political behavior going on at the same time. There's principled or ideological campaigning and voting, and then there's voting on the basis of one's material interests or group loyalties and affiliations. And it's hard to straighten the two out.

Talking heads are oriented much more on ideological lines, while voters chose the candidate they felt more comfortable with. So while this election was a throwback to older ways of voting one's region, it looks like a titanic struggle between diametrically opposed philosophies to many observers.

Joe:

Who are you man?! What are you?!

Your fringe side of "twisted" conservatism lost forever, you are nobody now, do you understand, you are nobody.

You come on this great forum and you bash our President Bush who has been leading us from one victory to another against our enemies outside the US and our liberal opponents inside the US. Little by little he and the Republican leadesrship, and the tens of millions of Republican Conservatives, are totally annihilating the cancer of liberalism in America. If we have followed your leader Pat Buchanin, we will be the "kook" party of America and we would have never won any election.

Your time has been up since our great Republican revolution in 1994, you can shout and scream on this great forum as much as you want, but make sure that you have a little following, and you will not hijack this Free Republic with your hatred to President Bush.

"You're right, what was I thinking. Instead of throwing those 14 million conservativers a kind word or a life ring, let's humiliate and degrade them."

Blahahahaha! Wimps – if my remark, stating that California is dominated by Democrats, is humiliating and degrading to conservatives then that would explain why we can’t win an election with a Right thinking politician.

I will rip the CA GOP every chance I get. They haven’t done $#!T for California conservatives, and they continue to throw the North State to the liberal wolves. The North State has lost most of its industry to environmental regulations, and the CA GOP does nothing to make it an issue. They just don’t care.

"And what are "American" values?"

Certainly not extremely high taxes, banning guns left and right, and aiding illegals.

Not all Republicans are conservatives. Your governor is a perfect example.

You guys will be a permanent minority if you cannot shape your message better.

Our problem is our party leadership. They actively kill any conservative campaign to prove that only a liberal rino can get elected. Arnolds election was a perfect example of this. Now we have lasting socialism thanks directly to the GOP leadership.

This notion that only a RINO will win has been disproved here many times.
