California...More Conservatives than Texas or Florida?
US Census, Election | 1-30-05 | Bob J

Posted on 01/30/2005 11:40:42 AM PST by Bob J

Attention all you CA bashers, particularly those of you so filled with jeolosy about the Golden State you can't help posting ignorant and provincial comments.

We won't mention that CA gave this country Ronald Reagan or that this state passed, by wide margins, propositions to eliminate bi-lingual education and restrictions on benefits to illegal aliens. It wouldn't be kosher to mention we just tossed a liberal/socialist Governor out on his derrier. We won't talk about how Free Republic was created in CA, that the first activism chapter was in LA or that the very first DC Rally (The MArch for Justice in '98) that helped launch FR activism around the country was planned and organized in CA by Californians. Let's not compare the size of its economy with other states (If CA were a country, it would have the 7th largest in the world), and that the taxes paid by Californian's pay for much of other states infrastructure projects and welfare benefits. That would be piling on and not a fair fight.

How about we keep it simple and just compare raw numbers of conservatives. According to the latest census and election results in '04, CA has almost 15 million of us, compared to 12 million in Texas and only 8 million in Florida, the next 2 most populous states.

Let me post that again...

Conservative Totals

California - 14.9 million
Texas - 12.7 Million
Florida - 8.3 Million.

Read it and weep..it ain't braggin' if it's true.

So you keyboard cowboys who hate everything and never get off your butt to make something happen, take your ignorant and spiteful comments about CA falling off into the ocean and put them where sun don't shine.

To be honest, the conservative cause could do a lot better without you than without the 15 million conservatives in this state.

I have no desire to make this any more nasty than it has already become.

It was just a simple question. Sorry you found it nasty. Sometimes the truth can be like that.

Good night.

Bob,
CA never really was conservative, we had a strong defense industry here until 1990. When that died, the so-called conservatism died. Libs, rats and rinos own this state top to bottom. If we can't beat a loser retard like Boxer, we are sunk. Sorry, I still vote and won't give up. But show me one sign of hope, please. (Discussion of Arnold is irrelevant to issue; he may be an improvement over Davis, but that is all he is.)

I do appreciate your spirit.
-C.

During the electrical energy crisis, we thought that Gray Davis would surely be toast in the next election. He was reelected nevertheless.

Lots of cemetaries in CA. Imo, that can explain why Boxer keeps getting reelected.

I held my nose and voted for Arnold, rather than Mc Clintock. Bustamante scares the hell out of me.

We all could have given up hope when Clinton was elected. Twice!

After boxer, it can only get better.

On another note, I personally am to the point were I don't even trust the elections/counting process. The potential for voter fraud, and election fraud etc is great.

Look at the scandals with Clinton. He was elected twice. LOL....

Too bad the 14.9 gozillion of us don't out number the libs. How well do you feel represented in Washington?

And, I feel as though electing a fiscally conservative socialist was not the improvement we need in Sacramento.

Me, I feel robbed and not at all represented, not even in the state gov't.

This place is beautiful, but I can't call it conservative, no matter how you crunch the numbers.

Hi Joe,
Yeah Clinton twice, but one could understand how people could fall for him; especially considering who he had the good fortune to run against. But Boxer?!: no brains, no elocution, no charm, no wit, no attractive qualities whatsoever. That is what makes her so discouraging. I know that whats-his-name didn't put up much of a fight; but don't forget that she whipped Bruce Hershenson, who was a fine man and a good candidate. Californos are just goofy.

Myself excluded, of course.
Cordially,
-C.

that wasn't too fair bringin up Scott Peterson or Gary Condit....those are individuals and if that is the logic, are you not the state that has mothers killing their babies and such on more than one occasion......you should stick to pertinent issues and not throw out isolated events

with all due respect, this thread started cause on a previous thread some ill informed and narrow minded people decided that it was still fun to attack us in California and generalize to the entire population in regards to politics

that is weird cause we dont' feel the need to joke about other states as much as many like to attack us....it is either a latent jealousy or just a mindset to attack others. Don't you hate it when Dems attack us and use hateful language???????

California as a whole has poor values????? or do you get that from the media? That is a poor generalized statement and there are several "red states" including Texas that has higher divorce rates than Calif. Does that mean they are worse family values???? NO, but I wouldn't use the media or stats like that to make an unsubstantiated assumption

Thanks for the info. I didn't see the previous thread, so I had no idea folks would be so... passionate. I didn't mean to add fuel to the fire. Hopefully, this comment can serve to make nice with everyone I may have inadvertently irritated here. It was never my intent to do so.

I personally am rooting for California to clean house and get back to the days of Reagan. It's a beautiful state that is more important to the nation than most here admit, and unfortunately right now the good citizens of California are being raped by illegal immigration and liberalism. We here in the rest of the country really don't see anything happening to change the direction California has taken, and it isn't going to happen without a huge battle. Perhaps conservatives from other states are going to have to step in and help with the battle.

So, how can this Illinois-born-and-raised conservative living in Texas help?

When Texas was solid Democrat we hired Karl Rove. It's now solid Republican.

As a former member of the Republican Assembly of Texas, I can tell you that our uncompromising conservative dogma, and personal disdain for anyone with any traces of moderation costs us many years of wasted time and effort.

you know, the things you rail about we also rail about too in CA. What got our dander up here is that if you read ALL the posts, there are many kind of ignorant people ( not you) who just throw out crap and have no idea about the whole of the state.. Sure the demographics hurt us on the coast but we are still fighting...People outside the state don't see news on the 44% of the state that is not blue cause there is not alot of bad news coming from it. We are trying to change things here but when I am insulted I do defend the state. I've been to 43 states, my parents and relatives are from Michigan and Kansas so I really do know the midwest pretty well.......what irks me is that this state is more purple than blue and some narrow minded ones just love trashing us cause of politics.....but when you look at education, business (still) travel, agriculture, technology etc, California still leads the nation and any other state......I don't mind anyone pissing on Boxer and her ilk but when they generalize to the entire state they will get a fight........thanks for writing....

Look, someone dissed Arizona, and claimed we weren't conservative. Which is patently silly, coming from California! I like California, thank God I don't live there.

I was posting earlier here and the only reason Bob J dissed Calif is that he was attacked first.......you don't see us going around attacking other states cause we know the problem is complex and not as easy as saying "California is whacky" like some do......I love living in Calif, it trancends all politics for the most part. Reading what others write you would think that liberals and gays and such are roaming the streets killing conservatives. This place is huge and diverse and not just in border dimensions.
