California...More Conservatives than Texas or Florida?
US Census, Election | 1-30-05 | Bob J

Posted on 01/30/2005 11:40:42 AM PST by Bob J

Attention all you CA bashers, particularly those of you so filled with jeolosy about the Golden State you can't help posting ignorant and provincial comments.

We won't mention that CA gave this country Ronald Reagan or that this state passed, by wide margins, propositions to eliminate bi-lingual education and restrictions on benefits to illegal aliens. It wouldn't be kosher to mention we just tossed a liberal/socialist Governor out on his derrier. We won't talk about how Free Republic was created in CA, that the first activism chapter was in LA or that the very first DC Rally (The MArch for Justice in '98) that helped launch FR activism around the country was planned and organized in CA by Californians. Let's not compare the size of its economy with other states (If CA were a country, it would have the 7th largest in the world), and that the taxes paid by Californian's pay for much of other states infrastructure projects and welfare benefits. That would be piling on and not a fair fight.

How about we keep it simple and just compare raw numbers of conservatives. According to the latest census and election results in '04, CA has almost 15 million of us, compared to 12 million in Texas and only 8 million in Florida, the next 2 most populous states.

Let me post that again...

Conservative Totals

California - 14.9 million
Texas - 12.7 Million
Florida - 8.3 Million.

Read it and weep..it ain't braggin' if it's true.

So you keyboard cowboys who hate everything and never get off your butt to make something happen, take your ignorant and spiteful comments about CA falling off into the ocean and put them where sun don't shine.

To be honest, the conservative cause could do a lot better without you than without the 15 million conservatives in this state.

It's perfectly fine to bash liberal California politicians and much of the stuff they do. It's important to do so, I think, because California is an important state and its policies do impact the rest of us.

For example, when California tries to impose fuel mileage standards for vehicles sold in that state, that affects the rest of us.

Smart Freepers can distinguish between elected officials and the millions of conservative California residents who share the same sentiments. Those that can't, well, their opinions should be judged accordingly.

well I get a bit miffed too when others try and denegrade my state....me and Bob J are just trying to defend Calif from those who's hatred parallels views on the left and they don't even realize it.......if I started bashing Texas for say having a high divorce rate and then said you guys must not have family values or are not true Christians, how would you feel......that is the leap the some FReepers take just cause they don't like Calif in general.

Click on your own name at the bottom of your last post. It will take you to your profile page.

You haven't created one, since you apparently didn't know it existed.

Click on my name on this post to see one that is goofy.

California's 14.9 million conservatives is watered down by 25 million democrats.

Once your in the profile page everything is HTML based so you careate to your hearts content. I enjoy clicking on the profile page of every story that I read if it is from a name I didn't recognize. Occasionally I'll go back to the profile pages of some of the names I know because the change them or update them.

Those are nice stats, Bob, but when we in the rest of the country see the examples of leaders elected by the state of California in the last several years, we tend to come to the conclusion that your state is not exactly the voice of conservatism. When we see crazy bills pass into law, insane court decisions, and tax rates that rank among the highest in the fifty states, many of us conclude that socialists are in charge of the state.

When we see that California, with its millions of conservatives, and the highest amount of electoral votes among the states, continues to deliver its contribution of those votes to the liberal candidate election after election, it sends a message to the rest of the country that California is a liberal state.

From out here in the middle of the red states, it seems that conservative ideas and policies have no representation within the government of the state of California.

Now all of these comments might make you angry, but why don't all those millions of California conservatives start trying to take your state back instead of worrying about what the rest of the country thinks?

Thanks, We are really both on the same side. I understand where you are coming from but I am so tired of California being written off. The liberals are not the majority in California damn it and the sooner we realise it, the better it will be for this state.

There are a few things that President Bush has done that I as a conservative may not be happy about but when it comes down to what truly counts (the love and pride of our country, our safety, belief in mankind), than I thank God everyday he is our President. I would not give you a nickel for McCain (selfish, self centered, more concerned about his ego than you and I) or Arnold (Typical Liberal, words are everything but actions are not important- Don't fall for it so he gave a speech at the convention - whoo who so why can't he give a speech in the state of California that he is a Govenor of? Why is this so difficult?). Now Guilliani handling of 9/11 and what he did for the city of New York prior, he has my respect and kudos. Again, I may not agree with Guilliani on some of his stands but again his actions outweigh some of his beliefs. We must understand the dangers of the fifth column and they do exist in the Republican Party. They will destroy our party if given a chance.

But it only takes 1 turd in the pickle barrel....

You want Texas to be judged by the libs in Austin. Don't judge us California's by the transplanted rejects from OTHER states that now infest Bezerkley, San Francisco and LA

"You were forced to live in California for 15 years??? Sounds like you are the girlie-man."

I was forced to live in California. My mother got remarried when I was 11 now I'm 35, than ripped me out of my loving home of Colorado. I would leave Ca. in a heart beat if my husband and I could find a job outside CA.

Ca used to be a wonderful place to live. Then Demoncraps totally lost their minds and made that hard left turn and the Repubs can't quit shooting themselves in the head.
