It is now 3 am in Iraq the polls will be opening in the next few hours as the world watches and hold's it breath. Iraq is about to undertake a historic vote.
Lets wish them well....... please post all comments and election photos to this thread.
You owe me a new keyboard... {;)~
ping for follow up and a prediction this will be the most widely read post in freeper history!
Godspeed to the Iraq people and our heroes supporting them!
You are so right. The only thing that would make me that brave it to be an example to my children and grandchildren. Or to protect my grandchildren. I would walk thru saddam's army for them. The kids would be on their own in that case,,they are big girls.
As mine are! God bless our military; God bless the Iraqi people...protect them all tomorrow.
Fox is supposed to have live coverage all night---boy, I remember watching Fox all night when the war started---it was really fascinating to watch it on live TV.
BTW, I very briefly stopped at CNN a while ago and Capitol Gang was on. Mark Sheilds wasn't there but the white haired guy (not Robt. Novak) was saying that on the very day that 31 marines died in a helicopter crash, Bush decided to come out a crow about how good things are going in Iraq. Not once did anyone point out that is was either weather or mechanical and could have happened here.
I did get angry this afternoon when Dana Lewis of Fox got on and said that a lot of the Iraqis in Baghdad were gonna wait until the afternoon to vote, so they could see if there were a lot of terror attacks or sniping. Did it ever occur to him, that getting on TV and announcing this stategy was also telling the terrorists to wait until afternoon? Geeesh

I can see a deep purple liquid oozing out of my TV speakers now with NBC on. Oh yes, it's Koolaid..
And it's not burning?????
Could be!

Boy, are you right! I just checked it out and this thread has more responses than two pages of threads over there for "General Discussion" and "General Discussion: Politics" combined. "Death by Disillusionment" must be such a sorry way to go!
BELLY GIRL!
I remember the all nighters waiting for the B-52's to show up over Baghdad....and watching the camera on the roof and Achmed trying to fix the shed.
It sends shivers up my spine to watch these people and puts tears in my eyes. The words Let Freedom Ring keep going through my mind on this historic occasion. Have always loved history and to see it right before our eyes is truly special. This thread is fantastic!
If you see purple coming out, you need a chocolae break. It undoes the brain washing. I recommend those little hersheys dealies with nuts in them.
I urge all Freepers and like minded souls to tune in to only Fox News through the election tommorrow. It's not that I think that Fox News is the greatest, but I want CNN and MSNBC to look like the biased media and traitors they are. My prayers are with the people of Iraq and our great American and coalition military personnel. May God keep all of you safe and sound on this most important date for freedom and democracy in Iraq!!!
THANK YOU!!!
Note my new tagline! Thanks for the post!!!
I wonder how belly girl is doing.
The soldiers that have honorably served their country, and the Afghans that have worked hard to build a free government, are not worthy of attention from the MSM. They tried to make Afganistan political but it was too close to 9-11 to succeed. Now they choose to ignore it in attempts to make our memories dim about 9-11.
I will never forget their first elections, as I'll never forget these in Iraq.
I swear when I was a child I never believed this would happen. I was taught that was just the way it was. They lived in a different culture and we should respect it, it wasn't our concern anyway. I never envisioned a free middle east.
I suppose this is the same way people felt about countries consumed by communism. I remember the fall of the Berlin wall but didn't truly understand its global significance at the time. I was just happy it was gone so families could be reunited.
To see, what I never even thought in context of a dream take place, inspires awe.
Freedom is on the March.
