A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.24.05

A culture of life for America got a big boost from President Bush as he addressed, from Camp David by telephone, pro-life demonstrators in DC marking the 32nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. He told abortion opponents he shared their support for 'a culture of life' and lauded progress in passing legislation to protect the vulnerable.

Presidents Bush and Chirac plan to have dinner in Europe next month. The president is also planning to host Chirac in the United States sometime soon. Bush plans to stop in Germany, and to meet with Russia's Putin in the Slovak Republic during his visit to Europe.

The Bush administration plans to announce it will seek about $80 billion in new funding for military operations this year in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, will lead a US delegation to Poland for observances marking the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps. Cheney will tour Auschwitz, honor Holocaust survivors, speak at the international forum, meet with Poland's President Kwasniewski, Poland's PM Belka, and Ukraine's President Yushchenko.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

...what is my cousin's daughter called, in relation to me?

Your aunt and uncle's daughter is your first cousin. So your cousin's daughter would be your second cousin. At least I think this is correct.

**That's where the education needs to be, IMO--with the kids who will grow up knowing what we now know about when a baby develops. These kids will ALWAYS KNOW that a baby is a baby from day 1.**

Amen to that

I'm usually wrong on this, but I'll give it a try.

Your cousin's child is your 1st cousin once removed, and your cousin's child and your child are second cousins.

It's exactly the opposite of what seems logical to me...........which may say something about my powers of logic. :o)

Hi, snugs. Did you see the info I sent you earlier about GWB having dinner with Chirac when the President travels to Europe for the NATO summit in February? Here's an update. He's also meeting privately with Schroeder and Putin. Nothing was announced, but I have doubt he'll also meet privately with your Prime Minister. Our media tend to make a big deal out of GWB's meetings with the European leaders who opposed us in Iraq, but I'm sure the President will meet privately with each of the leaders who attend.

Off to an (indoor, thank heavens!) soccer game!

Well below zero last night, and still VERY cold!

You're right. It does. Sort of looks like a white chocolate cake.

Well, at the very least I think he's going to fall in love with Emmy Rossum lol, but he's a keen observer and will get lots more out of it than enjoying the eye candy. He is very ungifted musically as far as carrying a tune but he loves music and he's warming to the idea of going. Chris (roommate) is pumped to go, now that I've told him the plot and subplots and that the music is not sung operatically. I saw the movie in a theater that didn't have surround sound or quadraphonic sound and that was a mistake which I hope to correct if Mark and Chris and I go.

Re it being a good thing it was made into a movie: yes ma'am. I've never seen it in the theater. One elderly lady who struck up a conversation with my friend and me as we exited the theater (she was in her late 70's or early 80's) had seen it in three theaters in three states and she loved the movie version and was excited at the things they could do with it cinematically compared with the stage restrictions.

Hee hee hee :) When I was in a dorm last year, I had my pictures right over my desk, which was right next to the door. Anyone who didn't like him had to look at him as soon as they walked in.

Doh! "Theater" and "stage" keep tripping me up. I should have written that I've never seen "Phantom" on stage. (You probably figured that out.)
