A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.24.05

A culture of life for America got a big boost from President Bush as he addressed, from Camp David by telephone, pro-life demonstrators in DC marking the 32nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. He told abortion opponents he shared their support for 'a culture of life' and lauded progress in passing legislation to protect the vulnerable.

Presidents Bush and Chirac plan to have dinner in Europe next month. The president is also planning to host Chirac in the United States sometime soon. Bush plans to stop in Germany, and to meet with Russia's Putin in the Slovak Republic during his visit to Europe.

The Bush administration plans to announce it will seek about $80 billion in new funding for military operations this year in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, will lead a US delegation to Poland for observances marking the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps. Cheney will tour Auschwitz, honor Holocaust survivors, speak at the international forum, meet with Poland's President Kwasniewski, Poland's PM Belka, and Ukraine's President Yushchenko.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

(Still singing "All I Ask of You" in my head. :o)

I hear you on that. I'm hoping to get my son and his roommate to go with me so I can see it a third time and expose them to a little culture. ;-) The roommate is all for it but my son is a teensy more difficult to convince. His roommate is working on 'im.

Hi Gretchen!

Thanks for the pictures; I just love seeing the Pro-Life pictures and it was great to hear what the Pres. had to say.

The pastor who gave the children's sermon at our church did a great thing yesterday. He talked about how Jesus loved us even before we were born. He showed a dot on a piece of paper and said we were littler than that when we were first made. Then he showed a model of a developing baby and pointed out at age of 10 days our hearts were beating, 30 days skeleton was formed, etc. You should have seen the kids! They were all crowding up to see the models closer and "ooh"-ing and "ahh"-ing over how the baby developed. That's where the education needs to be, IMO--with the kids who will grow up knowing what we now know about when a baby develops. These kids will ALWAYS KNOW that a baby is a baby from day 1.

It was 50 degrees and sunny here today! What a relief after the cold. I know we'll be in for more cold weather but it's nice to have some warm, too. It almost felt like spring.

Help yourself with my compliments since I "appropriated" it on FR. One might say it was a Palms without Qualms acquisition. ;-)

It is positively balmy up here. When I went to get the mail I was shocked. Not just sunshine, but I hardly needed a light jacket. Perfect walking weather. How about you?

How about you?

Well...seeing as how I live in the Los Angeles area, the weather here has been pretty rough. Sunny and highs in the 70's. The weather folks tell us we might -- might -- get a bit of rain in a few days. ;-)

I watched 'em. My brother didn't. I taped all of it so I can watch them over and over. I think I've got about 8 and a half hours on tape. My mom was very annoyed that I watched all of it :) (which only made me happier). My oldest brother is coming home for a while. Unfortunately, he's the one who harasses me the most about my beliefs. The first time he does it, he's gonna get whacked upside the head and I'm gonna put a picture of the president on the front of my door just to annoy him.

I just got an Email from my aunt and uncle who got word from my cousin's daughter and her husband in CA that one of those mudslides swept down and stopped just before it would have crushed his car.

Genealogists: what is my cousin's daughter called, in relation to me? First cousin once [one generation] removed? Or ??

I was thinking as I sat there in the theatre, that this was more culture in 2 hours than some of those people have experienced in a lifetime.

I think it's a good thing that they made a movie out of it. A VERY good thing.

(Let me know what your son thinks).
